Today, I'm excited to share what I've been working on for almost a year: Facebook Mentions, a new app that makes it easy for public figures to talk with their fans and each other on the go. Proud of the incredible team effort to launch this and all the folks who helped bring this to fruition.

Building something. Former product manager & co-creator of Facebook Live & Fb Mentions. Reimagined Fb Notes.

Vadim Lavrusik is a founder of Alively, currently in stealth. 

Prior to Alively, Lavrusik spent 5 years at Facebook working on product and media partnerships. He was the product manager of Facebook Live, which he co-created and led the development on. His team at Facebook also led the development of new products for public figures and influencers, including Facebook Mentions  ( a standalone app for public figures on Facebook, where Live was first created. As a passion project, Lavrusik also led the redesign effort of Facebook Notes product, which enables people to write rich, multimedia stories on Facebook. Prior to working on product at Facebook, Lavrusik was the Head of Media Partnership Programs at Facebook, leading a team focused on strategic partnerships and product development to improve content shared by public figures and media organizations on the platform as well as founding Facebook's journalism program while also teaching social media as an adjunct professor at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Prior to Facebook, he was Mashable's first Community Manager and Social Media Strategist, where he built the community team and wrote feature pieces. Before Mashable, he worked on social media at The New York Times. He has a Master of Science degree in Digital Media from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City and a B.A. in Journalism, summa cum laude from University of Minnesota. While at the University of Minnesota, he worked as a reporter, managing editor and editor-in-chief for four years at The Minnesota Daily, the fourth largest newspaper in Minnesota. 

He has written for PBS NewsHour, Nieman Journalism Lab, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, the Star Tribune,, and more.
