McNair Center for Entrepreneurism Now Accepting Applications for Micro-Seed Fund Grants

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Sunday, September 17 @ 5pm (Deadline Extended because of Hurricane Irma)

The Columbia College Micro-Seed Fund is a strategic, financial resource for current students of Columbia College that will kickstart the development of their idea, planning, and success. This fund was initiated by the generosity of The Robert and Janice McNair Foundation through their gift that created the McNair Center for Entrepreneurism at Columbia College in 2015.

By definition, a seed fund is typically startup capital for the entrepreneur to work for three-six months. The short term investment is designed to propel the entrepreneur to develop their product, concept, or service as fast as possible. At the end of the three-six month period, the fund recipients pitch or present a demo to an audience including potential investors and other interested individuals to present viability of their product, concept or service and seek start-up funds.

The Columbia College Micro-Seed Fund is focused on helping student entrepreneurs:
• Better identify problems, needs and solutions
• Conceptualize their solution, product, or concept
• Design a prototype
• Conduct market research and validate customer model
• Complete a feasibility study and/or develop a sound business plan
• Prepare and monitor a budget
• Effectively communicate and sell their product or concept
• Connect with potential investors and mentors
