I feel like everyone goes through a series of "Life changing experiences" as they grow and mature in their faith and testimony. The first of these experiences for me was actually a back packing trip I did around Europe. I was inspired to go on the trip after a spiritual experience I had while reading the New Testement. In the New Testement Matthew Chapter 6 Verses 25-26 it says "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" This scripture (as well as a few other experiences) impacted me greatly. I had a burning desire to try and live how God told his apostles to live. I wanted to travel and not be stressed about what I would eat or where I would sleep, but just trust God to take care of me, and rely on the goodness of those around me to support me.
From this idea, I called a friend I had in Germany and planned a 2 month trip bumbing all around Europe. The purpose of the trip was 2 fold. 1st We wanted to see and experience as much of Europe as we possibly could. 2nd we wanted to experience living by faith. We wanted to be as righteous as we could be, keeping up with out daily scripture study, continuing to go to church, having meaningful gospel conversations (My traveling partner was not LDS), then we wanted to rely on God to help us travel and have the experiences that he wanted us to have.

Some people might have thought this was a dumb idea, that God doesn't really care about your travels or your vacation goals, and that he only does that kind of divine intervention when there is a good reason such as missionary work or refugees in a crisis. But I did not feel that way. I feel that God loves us and wants to teach us lessons and help us grow. As we learn to rely on him and follow his guidance he can lead us to people who can open doors for us (quite literally in this case as we slept primarily on people's couches we had just met).

The trip was a success, it was one of the most spiritually growing times of my life. We went to 10 countries total, and made nearly 100 friends in those countries who helped us in various ways. We spent almost no money on the trip. The friend I traveled with did not end up getting baptized, but he has a strong testimony of prayer and he now knows the LDS church is special. He knows that God watches over us and cares for us. Hopefully someday he will also be able to come into the gospel.

A few main lessons I learned from this. 1. The power of prayer, and the miracles you can see from it. You can pray for anything, and if you pray with faith and with real intent you will see miracles.
2. God loves all of his Children. Sometimes we were prompted to go somewhere and talk to someone, and instead of them being a help to us, we were able to help them. God is always looking out for all of us, we just need to be willing to be guided by him.
3. God cares about what I care about. God's priority list probably doesn't include help every person to learn more about Europe...but because it was important to me, it was also important to God, and he blessed me to be able to learn and fulfill my goals.
