Ok someone correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't this isil group come from the rebels in Syria? And now our president wants $500 million to train the rebels after he sends all these US troops to Iraq to advise and train the Iraqi military to fight isil. Now what's wrong with this picture?

Introduction
Colonel David S. Maxwell, US Army Special Forces (Retired), hails from Madison, Connecticut. He is the Associate Director of the Center for Security Studies and the Security Studies Program in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He is a 1980 graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a BA in Political Science and has Masters Degrees in Military Arts and Science and National Security Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the School of Advanced Military Studies, and the National War College of the National Defense University. He received his commission through the Officer Candidate School in 1981. His final assignment was as a member of the military faculty at the National War College.
