Cute Kiddo Questions
This has been running around facebook and I decided to post it here to save it for "all time." I asked Quinn all the questions first, then Aurora later. Quinn is 3.5 years old and Aurora is 6 years old. 1. What is something mom always says to you? Q: Stop! ...

We went hiking one cool but beautiful afternoon. It was cold enough that there was still ice but it wasn't too cold to be outside. Icicles! Ice! Checking out dripping rocks. We ended up chasing Quinn most of the hike like this... Silly kiddos. More "ice cas...

Bedtime problems with Aurora
I'm getting annoyed, so to keep my humor up, I'm going to record all the things Aurora needs from me before she falls asleep. All begin with her yelling, "Mommy!? MOMMY!!! MOMMYYYYYY!" She is swaddled in her special blanket from my mom, so she doesn't want ...

Snow Day!
It started snowing at about 9am this morning. I wasn't expecting it to last long, so I got the kids ready to go play. They were incredibly excited!  Snow angels! We went back in when we got too cold--it was 20 degrees, after all! But after warming up, the k...

Happy 5th birthday, Aurora!!
Aurora turned 5 years old today! She had a hard time going to sleep last night so she ended up sleeping in late. When she woke up, she came out carrying her special birthday dress, which she was so so excited to put on.  I took some pictures of her in her p...

Cute kjiddo stories from this week
I was working in the kitchen one morning when I heard Quinn start crying quite hard. But it didn't sound quite right; it sounded a bit fake but I've never heard Quinn fake cry before. I peeked around the corner into the living room and saw Quinn laying on ...

Hi, I'm Regina. I discovered the wonders of loose leaf tea about a year ago. I don't know many people in real life who want to go through the "effort" of dealing with loose leaf tea so I don't have anyone to talk to about my tea!

My current favorite tea is Dragon Pearl Black tea but I also typically like standard English Breakfast tea. I prefer black teas over others, but enjoy trying others.

Semi-newbie gardener here. I just tested my soil and it came back low (so low that the tests basically didn't register) on the 3 big nutrients (nitrogen, phosphate, potash). I have an all-purpose fertilizer but it's vague on instructions so I can't figure out how much of the fertilizer I need to add to amend the soil. The test came back with recommendations for amounts, but they use different concentrations of the nutrients when calculating the weight to add per 100 sqft, so I'm having a hard time making the conversion.

Anyone know of a good site or way to work out how much fertilizer to use? (And, yes, I know my soil needs a lot more help if it's that depleted, but I'm working within some constraints here.)

+William Wade and I just finished listening to Jon Scalzi's Red Shirts. What a great story. It twisted my brain as only science fiction can, had me on the edge of my seat (almost biting my nails at times), and made me a bit misty-eyed at the end. I'm pretty sure I can say that any science fiction lover would enjoy this book, whether they're familiar with Star Trek or not. It's more amusing if you're familiar with Star Trek, but it's not a prerequisite for enjoying the book.

And I have to give a shout-out to +Wil Wheaton, who did a great job reading it.
