Desktop Dungeons, the IGF Excellence in Design winner with Soundtrack by DannyB and Grant Kirkhope, has finally made it to Linux, to celebrate we're offering the game along with all the DLC and OST at 50% off on Steam's Midweek Madness.

(Apologies if this is a little spammy, we're trying to get the message out about this gem of a game while it's cheaper. It's been a real labour of love and we just want to share it with people who would appreciate it's fiendishness)

We're also open to debating whether or not this is a roguelike, it's kind of been defying classification.

Any recommendations about where we should post this news so more people can get it while it's cheap?

Short review focusing on the design thinking in DD.

Desktop Dungeons: Strongly Recommend

Desktop Dungeons started as a freeware game and was polished into a classic. Also its by a bunch of South African Dev's so wave that flag (if the pell names didn't give it away).

Games like DD, Minecraft & Spelunky both start as Freeware games and in an open collaborative sense and then are developed with the community while the creator retains a strong personality and sense of ownership.

This leads to game which are strong from a pure design, ludology, point of view. Yet at the same time the character and aesthetic retain a strong individuality which is a welcome change from bland studio fair which has been mushed together like game design pap smooth and even in flavour.

Glory or death in a ten minute dungeon crawl
Introduction
Desktop Dungeons is a quick-play roguelike puzzle game that gives you roughly 10 minutes of dungeon-crawling action per serving. It straddles the casual and hardcore boundary in that, while you might die frequently because the game is tricky and unforgiving, it’s so approachable and quick to get into that you keep wanting just one more round.
