I have been going to Tomu sushi regularly for a couple of years now, and I have never had a bad experience or have left unsatisfied. The food has always been delicious, and the staff have always been polite and friendly. When I was there with friends, who had small children, the chef created a swan from carving an apple and gave it to the children as a gift. Meals come with complimentary side dishes, salad, and miso soup, all of which are delicious. My personal favourites are the tempura/sushi lunch bento, tomu roll, and the spicy salmon roll. They definitely make the best dolsot bibimbap in town. Not only is the food tasty, but the presentation is absolutely beautiful (some meals, such as the chirashi don, are decorated with beets/carrots that are carved into the shape of butterflies and flowers). Tomu is by far my favourite restaurant. EDIT: I passed by Tomu Sushi recently, and the sign read "Suki Sushi". I believe that Tomu has changed ownership given that it was up for sale a few months back.

After seeing all these five-star reviews, I headed down to Tomu Sushi this morning. Now, being from Vancouver, I am very well aware that just because a sushi restaurant has non-Japanese staff does not mean that the food is terrible. However, in this case, I was faced with a Korean server who did not know enough English to take my order, and who (rather rudely) continued to discuss and laugh at my menu choices after going to the kitchen. Needless to say, I got the wrong items. The miso soup came in what looked like a thimble. The chopped scallop cone was completely tasteless, and the unagi don--eel on rice--though delicious, came in an extremely small portion. Frankly, I had expected much more from a $30 meal, and I was extremely disappointed by the poor service, the clueless staff, and the bland food. Bluntly put, I will never eat at Tomu Sushi again.

Had a red dragon roll and chicken bento box. Was very impressed. Clean, light, and very very tasty! At first I thought the dragon roll was over priced, but trust me, it's worth it! It's huge! And very tasty. Highly reccomend.

Complimentary green tea is delicious and steeped perfectly with every cup. Service is great and the staff very are friendly. It gets very busy, so be sure to book a reservation. We had the dynamite roll, black dragon roll, avocado hand rolls (really good!) and shrimp tempura. All of it was delicious :) And I highly recommend this restaurant, well worth the money

Keep in mind that all the high reviews are a year or more old and the recent reviews are low. I really wish I could give half a star extra; but, it is what it is. If you go in and you see the place mostly empty don't expect to get in and out in a timely manner. There is a line of phone orders in front of you and the customer who takes the time to sit and eat in is not their number one item. The ladies who serve the food are great, the young lad who helps out has no mind, he forgets your Coke and then makes up lies to cover his mistake. The sushi is excellent but really in a place 70% empty , its not worth it. So some place else; but, remember those 5 out of 5 ratings for sushi are made mostly by those who think McDonalds is a 3/5 of fine dining.

Hand rolls are surprisingly intricate. Sashimi portion sizes are smaller than is standard. Nice atmosphere; excellent service during off-peak hours. Accepts credit cards -- even AmEx!

It's not evident from looking at the menu, but the portions are significantly larger than standard sushi fare. The quality of the food is quite good too - definitively above AYCE places, and one of the better a la carte ones. Servers will not check on the table unless called. If you need their attention you need to flag then down.
