I loved the variety of study abroad programs that were available. My experience in Tours, France during the summer of 2002 was absolutely amazing. I also participated in an alternative Spring Break to Quebec City, Quebec. I'm still friends with people from both experiences even ten years out of college. My sister, from the class of '12 went to Valencia, Spain with MSU, and also found it to be a life-changing experience. The campus, especially the North end, is absolutely beautiful. I just love the older buildings, including the Mason/Abbott/Snyder/Phillips complex. That was a great place to live for short walks to class if you were in the College of Arts & Letters. I really enjoyed shopping and hanging out on Grand River while an undergrad as well.

The best, most life changing four years of my life were spent at Michigan State. It truly is what you make of it. East Lansing is small yet vast when you consider the variety of opportunities on and off campus. I feel that it was decent preparation for the real world (I'm now 1.5 years out of college, almost 24 y/o) and I appreciate all the lessons learned and fun times I had at MSU. The cons are cold weather and high cost of dorms, classes, the meal plans, etc. I'm also not big on sports so sometimes I felt like I was missing out on all the sports hype. With such a large student population, though, it is not difficult to find people with common interests (outside of sports)!

They allow a graduate student who did not follow IACUC approved protocol to graduate with a Master's Degree (Kate Steensma Fall 2012). By her not following the approved protocol, the cows were starved and had severe consequences to their health.
