well worth the time.
Nerdy guys aren’t guaranteed to get laid by the hot chick as long as we work hard. There isn’t a team of writers or a studio audience pulling for us to triumph by getting the girl.

It's interesting that, having spent all of my life deeply embedded in geek culture, I can't recall a single instance of someone complaining that they are not getting the affection, or sex, that they are entitled to. I wonder if this is a case of me having selective memory or if the subset of the culture to which I have belonged has somehow lacked this. Theories?

Either way, I really love the author's point about the creepyness of the general depiction of the nerd/geek with respect to sex. And I would like to add that it is degrading to everyone, men, women, geeks, nerds, jocks... everyone.

Very much worth the read.
No one is coming to take away your shitty toys

To summarise: Rami made a tiny blip of a post about boob physics in The Witcher 3 being referred to internally as "eye candy" and then some asshole made a concerted effort to complain about political correctness, denied that there's any structural privilege in being a straight white man in America, and then made the bold claim that racism (and presumably sexism, ageism, et al) only persists because of people who keep bringing it up and calling others out on it - this fascinating notion that we live in a post-prejudice age, soiled only by the whining of people of colour, women, homosexuals, etc, who cling to the 'victimhood' of ages past, who for some reason believe documented history and observable systems of causality are to blame for their disadvantaged social/economic/political position. Yes, our ancestors forged global empires on the flagellated backs of slaves! Yes, womens rights over their own bodily integrity have been violated by male-dominated political institutions throughout history! I agree, all of that stuff was terrible! But that was YESTERDAY! Didn't you get the memo?! Starting TODAY we're all equal! Other than in an ongoing series of freak, one-off incidents which I don't think we should read anything into. Now, let's never mention this again and just continue as normal until trickle-down economics has evened everything out.

lol. And on he goes...

Over the years, I've seen a lot of people roll their eyes at 'political correctness' and pose this kind of exaggerated rhetorical question about how it's impossible to please everyone; this idea that if you took everything that could possibly 'offend' someone out of your creative work, you'd end up with an insubstantial beige soup of nothingness. It's a shallow argument deployed by cynical developers who don't want to admit to their own bullshit, and the kind of lay gamers who speak out in defence of cynical developers with childlike innocence (here's a thought: presuming that minority groups will never be satisfied until everything worthwhile has been destroyed is quite obviously a patronising attitude in itself???) "This is censorship!" they cry, in an eye-opening demonstration that they do not understand what words mean.

On wednesday I recieved news that I'll be out of a job come New Years. We are a group of eight splendid civil servants who are being thoroughly screwed by managment.
I "worked from home" on thursday and now I have just sent out the fifth job application since then. Need I say that my work ethic has never felt better?

Stockholm Police SWAT is holding recruit training in my back yard, it seems. I was on my usual lunch time stroll around the island. Noticed signs reading "Exercise in progress" and then a flock of muscular people running past me. They were hopping jumping climbing ropes and it's been going on all month.
I found this guy behind a bench. He looks tired.

+Cliff Harvey's first Swedish Valborgsmässoafton, aka Walpurgis night. Roaring bonfire was huge and pretty although strong winds shortened our stay. People were drunk and happy and so were we. I share this crappy crappy picture with the rest of you. Cliff on the far right, fire in the middle.

Introduction
I'm an "I'd rather hang out on the balcony and watch the stars" sort of science fictiony sapiosexual (I don't care if that word is no longer cool) day dreamer with perhaps too widely spread spheres of interest to be really constructive. A complete sucker for the Asimov universe and end up re-reading the foundation series every now and then.

As my mouth opened, my mind was screaming "Don't do it! I mean it! You'll regret it!" But did my mouth listen? No! And it opened, and the words came out, and my mouth was stunned, and my mind said "I told you so!" And then my mouth got mad because no mouth likes to have its nose rubbed in it. And now my mind and my mouth aren't talking and it'll be weeks before we get the boys together again.

- Your mouth has a nose?
