The naps that were (or perhaps are) a regular part of your baby’s life will gradually decrease, and, at some point in your little one’s toddlerhood, they will stop altogether. But how do you know when your toddler is ready to drop the last nap, and to stop napping completely? How do you manage that transition? https://www.babysleepsite.com/toddlers/toddler-done-napping-3-signs/

Most parents look forward to nap times, those brief interludes when you can actually pause for breath, do the never-ending chores, or have a little “me” time. But if your baby’s naps are on the short side, nap time may feel more frustrating than relaxing, especially if you’ve worked hard for those 30-40 minutes putting baby down in the first place! Some people recommend the “wake to sleep” method as a way to extend short naps. But does it work? https://www.babysleepsite.com/sleep-training/wake-to-sleep-help-baby-short-naps/

Expectations can be tricky things, can't they? On the one hand, setting expectations helps to shape behaviors and set healthy boundaries. But expectations can also backfire on us! Unhealthy expectations can turn what is a perfectly normal, reasonable situation or event into something that feels disappointing or sad. There are some who argue that it is unreasonable to expect babies to self-soothe from infanthood, and that, by doing so, we are setting ourselves and our babies up for failure and distress. But is this true? https://www.babysleepsite.com/baby-sleep-comfort/self-soothing-baby-expectation/

Occasionally, we have clients email us with what they think is a “silly” question. They want to know what we recommend by way of pajamas, sleep sacks, etc. for babies and toddlers. In fact, we think this is such a good question that we decided to write a blog article about it! https://www.babysleepsite.com/baby-sleep-comfort/what-do-babies-toddlers-wear-to-bed/

With controlled crying, (also known as Ferberizing and check and console), you essentially allow your child to fuss and cry at bedtime or at the start of a nap (or after a night waking or a too-early nap waking), but you plan to check in with your child at regular intervals. Sounds pretty straight forward, right? Here are 5 reasons why controlled crying would be the best sleep coaching method for you https://www.babysleepsite.com/sleep-training/controlled-crying-5-reasons-why-this-could-be-the-best-coaching-method-for-your-child/
