National Children’s Dental Health Month brings together dental professionals, healthcare providers and educators to promote the benefits of oral health to children. This year, the theme is “Choose Tap Water for a Sparkling Smile,” which helps instruct children about the benefits of fluoride and drinking tap water. One of the earliest references to the Tooth Fairy that we know and love was in an article in the Chicago Daily Tribune in 1908: "Many a refractory child will allow a loose tooth to be removed if he knows about the tooth fairy. If he takes his little tooth and puts it under the pillow when he goes to bed the tooth fairy will come in the night and take it away, and in its place will leave some little gift." #ToothFairyTuesday #DentalHistory

Cavities and tooth decay are caused by acid producing bacteria in your mouth. While sugar is usually the source, starchy carbohydrates only make the problem worse. Things like potato chips get stuck and build up between teeth and give the bacteria something to feast on! Consider nuts or pretzels as an alternative for a salty snack. #DentalFAQ
