This will be a first for me. I have never written an unfavorable review of any company before, but I truly feel that I need to let people know about our experience at Mike and Sterling's. My wife and I received a bid from them to install hard wood floors in a little over 700 square feet in our house. We found the wood that we wanted to use, and like any savvy consumer we looked to see if we could find it anywhere at a cheaper price. Unfortunately for Mike and Sterling's, we did find it remarkably cheaper at a store in Houston, TX (even with the added shipping). However, we still wanted to give Mike and Sterling part of the business because they had been so good to us when we first came in. We decided to buy all of the trim and the built-in wood vents from Mike and Sterling (approximately $300 worth of material). We were told by an employee to come into the store and she would be happy to help us with it. When my wife went to the store tonight to order and purchase the pieces, she was sent to be helped by none other than one of the owner's, Mike. Mike was friendly at the beginning until he heard that we had ordered the bulk of the wood from another store. He quickly turned nasty and told my wife that it wasn't worth it to him to handle such a small order and told her to call someone else. My wife was clearly frustrated after being told to come in and hauling our one-month old to the store with her. Mike told her that he was a small business and he would rather not help her. When I heard of the experience and heard my wife almost in tears, I decided to call and speak with Mike. When I asked him about it on the phone he told me that, "I probably should have handled that a little better." I agreed and told him that no customer should be treated that way, and asked why he would ever turn away business. Little did he know, we have another 1200 square feet of flooring we need to order and would have likely gone through them in a couple months. I told him that I was really ticked, to which he replied, "You can go ahead and be ticked, I'm running a business here." To that, I simply let him know that I would be sharing our experience on any available review site that I could find and that I would be telling people about it. Mike cut me off and said, "Oh, now you sound like a really great guy!" His inability to help a customer and drive business for his own store is unbelievable. We will NEVER step foot in Mike and Sterling's again. If you are looking for flooring, please visit Kay Riley. They carry better quality flooring at much more reasonable pricing and are located in Bountiful as well. They know how to treat customers and would never turn away a sale no matter how small or insignificant it may seem.

Dear Mr. Brown, I am sorry about the experience you had dealing with our flooring store. Mike admittedly made a mistake in this situation with you and your family. Every once in a while mistakes happen, but we as a business aren't using that as an excuse. We hope you'll accept our apology, and allow us the opportunity to make it right. If there is anything that will make this situation right in your mind, please come in and we'd be happy to work it out. Their knowlegable helpful staff outshined their beautiful showroom. We are very happy with our beautiful new carpet and travertine. Our thanks goes out to the great installers who showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves.

Mike & Sterling's Flooring America has selection and value. The staff is very knowledgeable and responsive to customer needs. I love to go to the showroom to get ideas. Go to the big box stores and then Mike & Sterling's. You will see a huge difference in the service and will find that the prices are very competitive.

Recently the Wight House Reception Center purchased a second location in Layton Utah called Florentine Gardens. In order to turn a former pre-school into an amazing reception center, a tight budget was in order. Flooring was a major concern as the building was to be used often and have extreme wear and tear. Which in some instances can raise the cost of the flooring. In our situation it was important that we had something beautiful as well as durable, and with in our budget. Sterling was amazing to work with, we purchased hard woods, tile, and carpet all from Mike & Sterlings. Our flooring at the new venue is fantastic! It all fell perfectly within our budget and will last for years to come. The customer service was perfect and as a result The Wight House Reception Center, along with Florentine Gardens will use Mike & Sterling for all future flooring needs.

What a great staff! They are very helpful and knowledgeable, I also heard that they installed solar on their building that is so environmentally responsible! Its great to see them leading the way and setting the example for other businesses.
