10 Reasons Why You Should Definitely Never Let Your Kids Play Rugby

Everyone knows that rugby is really dangerous thanks to a bunch cauliflower eared thugs knocking the living daylights out of each other for fun, but do they know the reasons why? Here we’ve compiled our top ten reasons as to why nobody should never ever even consider playing rugby…
1.You will find your kids have less and less free time to sit in front of the TV because instead of sitting around on the sofa during their evenings and weekends they’ll actually be outside.
2.There’s a chance they might have to interact with other people and develop friendships as rugby demands all participants actually speak to one another.
3.There is also a significant risk that you kids might actually end up doing some running, which means there’s a significant risk they could end up becoming dare we say it – healthy!
4.It’s quite likely your kids will discover positive role models in coaches and older players – but they have enough positive role models at home right?
5.Sometimes rugby can be a bit like school because they actually end up having to learn things – things like respect, teamwork, friendship and hard work.
6.Food and clothing bills may increase as your kids body adapts to the physical demands of rugby – but we don’t want your kids to grow up big and strong do we?
7.You might actually have something you can do with your kids, because suddenly they have something they’re passionate about and want to practice with you – but who wants to spend time with their kids hey?
8.Believe it or not there’s also the risk they might find they actually enjoy themselves – and who would want your kids having fun outside of your control?
9.There’s a chance they might learn some valuable life lessons, because after all, who wants to deal with the realities of life though?
10.Your kids might actually end up gaining some confidence as a result of playing rugby, and obviously its crucial to keep your kids starved of confidence or else they may develop into well-rounded adults!

New Term starts this weekend!

Hi-di-hi All you LittleLions!
This weekend we are back to normal, so clean those rugby boots, pack a hat (we might have a small shower!) and lets get out there and have some FUN!
This Saturday you will find us on the top pitches, so walk passed the clubhouse and follow the pathway up the hill to the top pitches and we will be there!
Sunday folk, you may have a logistical problem with the roads because of the Triathlon, so you may wish to plan an alternative route to get to us.
We are looking forward to seeing you all this weekend.
Kind regards
from Mike & the team

Looking for a Birthday Party option that offers loads of FUN?

Birthday Parties
LittleLions-Rugby parties are an ideal birthday activity for children who love to burn off energy, running around with their friends having fun. The birthday party format will mirror a regular LittleLions-Rubgy class, matching it to the age group of the party and ensuring the birthday child has a memorable party.
Party Pack Includes

A medal for each child
A new rugby ball for the birthday child
A certificate for the birthday child
90 minutes of fun and games led by our coaches

We tend to play outside in all weathers in local parks chosen by you. Most parks are free of charge, but it is up to the parents of the birthday child to check this out, and where necessary arrange any permit needed. If you require an indoor location, again you need to arrange this yourself. Please be conscious of the space/size of area needed. If you wish to discuss this beforehand, and then please feel free to call us, and discuss the location you are thinking of and we can try to help and advise you. Along with achieving a fun day, you need to be conscious of health and safety issues for the whole group.
Minimum numbers: 14
£115 up to 14 children. Numbers over are worked on an additional £8.00 per child.

New term starts this weekend!

Let’s have no doubting Thomas’ (or Doris’) for that matter this weekend.

I am sure the Rugby God’s will play their part and kill the bad weather between the hours on 10.00am – 11.00am on both Saturday and Sunday morning.
So wrap up well and we look forward to a series of fun games ending with a good old game of ‘Cowboys and Indian’s!’

John Ruskin may have been a Victorian critic, but he was surely a 'LittleLion' at heart!

Helping my ‘Little Lion’ with his homework concerning the Victorians I came across this quote which made me think, if John Ruskin was a parent today, he would be LittleLions-Rugby dad!
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, and snow is exhilarating;

there is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.”

– John Ruskin
Here’s to a few more weekends of ‘refreshing’, ‘bracing’ and hopefully not too much ‘exhilarating’ weather!! 🙂
Make sure you keep your ‘Little Lion’ wrapped up this weekend!

New Year sees LittleLions-Rugby start After-School sessions at Moorlands School

Yesterday saw 14 Moorlanders of Y1 and Y2 getting muddy under the floodlights at the first LittleLions-Rugby session of the term. They all left the pitch with big smiles having had a load of fun playing various passing games which ended with a game of touch. The next 10 weeks should be a series of more fun based rugby games and drills which will help develop all the children’s motor skills, but more importantly leave them with memories of fun that will last for ever. Roll on  next week!

What Local Clubs think of LittleLions-Rugby?

Hi Mike,

Hope you are well, just wanted to say a massive thank you, we are so glad we discovered little lions. Henry has had a brilliant time over the last few years and I don’t think he could have been prepared in a better way for entering the next stage of his rugby career at his daddy’s club Yarnbury (and then hopefully England!)

Littlelions-Rugby is just so different to any other child centred sport activity we have tried. It is an hour, it is outside whatever the weather, it encapsulates the rugby ethos of teamwork and camaraderie. It truly tests them and brings out the competitive edge however deeply hidden in the most fabulous and positive way. I don’t know how you find such brilliant co-coaches; you and they are such positive role models for the children. Thank you – we have all loved every minute.

Ian Burrows U7’s Coach, Yarnbury RUFC.
“Both of my son’s have attended LittleLions-Rugby and I have nothing but admiration for how they have picked up basic motor skills through the games that they play at LittleLions-Rugby. This has given them an electric start to their ‘competitive rugby career’ (all be it just to playing tag!) They approach games with energy and excitement and easily fitted into the Mini Rugby set-up at Old Leo’s, which is now fully thriving, thanks LittleLions-Rugby!”

Mark Winter, Head Coach, U7’s Leodiensian Rugby Club
“My son Daniel has attended LittleLions-Rugby and he thoroughly enjoyed the fun and games they played there. Simple skills like running with the ball in two hands, tagging and working as a team are all things he has developed while being a ‘Little Lion’.

The games learnt at LittleLions-Rugby have stood him in good stead for the drills we operate at training at Roundhegian’s, and have therefore been a great grounding for his success on match days. Thanks – LittleLions-Rugby!

John Macintyre, Team Manager U8’s Roundhegians RUFC.
My youngest son initially attended the midweek Little Lions toddler group at Thorner which he enjoyed immensely. Since starting school he has progressed to the Saturday morning sessions at Moortown RUFC which he really enjoys. I wished I had known about Little Lions for my eldest son, he loves rugby and would have loved Little Lions. I am in the privileged position of not only see Mike, and his LittleLions-Rugby coaches work their magic with my own son, but as the former U7’s and now under 8’s coach at Moortown RUFC, I have the benefit of seeing the number of ‘rugby ready’ kids coming through from LittleLions-Rugby and settling straight into our club’s Mini Rugby section. Thanks Mike and Little Lions, from both my position as a dad, and also as a club coach in the Mini’s section at Moortown RUFC. Keep up the good work!

Neil Chappell, U8’s Coach, Moortown RUFC.
