Hello again friends,

In my latest StudioCrasher interview I talk to McLean Fahnestock, an LA-based contemporary artist who works across media, from video to multimedia photographic work.

Her grandfather was John Sheridan Fahnestock, an explorer who led many expeditions throughout the southern Pacific Ocean in the 1930s and 1940s, making anthropological recordings of music in the region.

We discuss the place of video in contemporary art, the Space Race and how McLean has picked up on the legacy of her explorer grandfather.

This is Part 1 of 3. Enjoy!

Hello friends,

This is Part 3 of my three-part interview with Las Vegas artist, Tim Bavington.

I met Tim in his studio in Las Vegas, where we talked about moving to America, the high/low culture division and the importance of music in his work.

In this final part of the interview, Tim talks about his public art commissions, including his large installation at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Las Vegas.

I hope you enjoy this latest StudioCrash!

Hello friends,

This is Part 1 of my three-part interview with Las Vegas artist, Tim Bavington.

Tim grew up in the United Kingdom and moved to the United States to study illustration at Art Centre College of Design. He worked for 12 years as a commercial illustrator, much of that time for The Simpsons. He then moved into contemporary art and now creates paintings and three-dimensional works whose aesthetics arise from popular culture and music.

I hope you enjoy this latest StudioCrash!
