We've just been sent papers from BMI, threatening to sue us if we don't pay them a $1500 licensing fee for the live music we have here.

Blatant extortion.

Obviously, we can't afford that. Nor can we afford a lawyer. And they know this.

We're forced to cancel all live performances at the shop and we are also forced to only play the radio in the cafe.

Google "BMI harassment' and you'll get a better idea as to what we're dealing with.

The bearer of the red lantern signals his last place in the Tour de France. Sometime you may feel like a final finisher with a broken bike which makes Red Lantern the first place for all your cycling needs. The guys here are awesome and never judge you on your ineptitude concerning your bike. They provide dependable and quality service that does not empty your wallet. Best of all you can sip a cup of joe or chug a beer while you wait for the repairs to be done.

I am an old-time customer of Red Lantern. They have even built bikes for me before they were at this current location. They provide pleasant, professional service. I do not take my bike anywhere else. Red Lantern employees are careful, fair, unsnobby and offer thorough service. Purchase and repair options are always well explained, never pushy. They can and will fix and build anything from a 12-speed, to a cruiser, to a delivery bike, to a race bike. Great beer-coffee-sandwich-wine bar as well, great to be in regardless of if you are having a bike fixed or not, great for a bite or a brew. Amazingly, they have the only beer-and-wine license in NYS. A true "public house", with half cyclists, half-not truly mingling over a coffee or a beer. A sincere five stars for Red Lantern. A cool, reliable small business.

I had a puncture just blocks away from this gem of a bike shop. Not only was I pleasantly surprised to find it open on a Sunday morning, but everyone was super friendly to me and my two sons. And coffee to boot? Couldn't be happier. Thanks, Brian!

Knowledgeable service technicians for your repair or new build, tasty beverages for your parched lips. Don't forget to say hello to the landshark ;)

No bollocks, this place retains a good vibe. Coffee is better than chain stuff certainly, food is just what's needed, not fancy or choice laden.

Awesome neighborhood spot for coffee, snacks, beer (in the afternoon/evening) and, obviously, all your biking needs.

Excellent staff, food and coffee. Everything on the menu is made in house so you can really know and trust that whatever you order is being made with care and awareness, not with fillers and preservatives.

Fast work and reasonable rates for bike repairs. Plus, the coffee bar makes the short wait for your repair a pretty great way to kill time. Definitely a great addition to the neighborhood.
