We're very excited to let ya'll know that we've just become a Raleigh dealer.

We've been thinking now for quite some time about who (else) we would like to carry here at the shop. Whelp, we've decided. They have a great reputation, awesome bikes, and offer some really great options for the commuter. All at a really affordable price.

Take a look at our website for some more pics.

Yup. It's true. The EdgeRunner is moments away from being available. They say September. And, as unbelievable as this may be, that's only a month away.

Due to last years limited run, the hype behind the new batch is tremendous. Read: The first container is going to sell fast.

So we're partnering up with XtraCycle and have set up a pre-order program. Come in, let us know which package you'd like and if there are any particulars you'd prefer.  We will then call you the week before they ship (a hard date has not been set yet). We'll take a deposit and you'll be rolling in no time.

We're really excited about these new and updated rigs. And we can't wait to see a thousand of these roaming the streets of Brooklyn.

Give the shop a call or stop in to get started.

Check out the info below or for more details.

At Red Lantern Bicycles, we believe that bicycles are one of human kinds’ greatest inventions.

We also believe that they are the best way to get around this great city. That’s why we specialize in helping you, the commuter.

The bikes we carry are for the commuter and are designed to be used as a utilitarian machine. All of them are tough, rugged, and capable of racks and fenders.

We specialize in useful and functional bicycles. We know that because of what we do to your ride, your livelihood will improve. And we know that our bikes are making other people’s lives better.

The staff has over 30 years of combined experience. We could tell you that we are the best. But every shop does that. What we will tell you is that what we do is done precisely and accurately. Check out the “Service” section for more in-depth details. And when you do come in, our work will be the proof behind the puddin’.

We also happen to have a passion for coffee. We roast our own beans in-house from a single origin bean we get from Guatemala. We also make our own alternative nut milks (i.e. almond, cashew, and sunflower) to go along with that cup of goodness you just ordered. Milks, ice and hot teas, hot chocolates, chai drinks… you name it. All made in-house.

So bring your bike by. Chillax at the bar if you’d like. We have lots of answers to any questions that you may have. We will be more than happy to chat-a-chat-chat with you about all things bike. Because here at Red Lantern, we’re all about the bike love.

Good neighborhood spot for a quick bike fix. The guys are real bike heads. Very friendly and helpful. I've had coffee there a few times and it's decent. Not the best in the neighborhood but a good meeting spot if you need one.

Came here for a Citibike safety course. This will be a review for their cafe as I've never been here for bicycle purposes. It's cool that they have a cafe inside. I tried their cookie (which was overpriced for what it was) and their pistachio milk, since I've never seen pistachio milk before. For all of you whose interest has been peaked by the prospect of pistachio milk, let me save you the time- it's pretty bad. They should have watered it down more and sweetened it.

It's too bad they ripped me off; I really like the bar/bike shop integration. Chill vibe, and on the surface chill mechanics, but after my wheels were stolen I purchased a new pair from this shop. They sent me off with incorrectly installed tires, (the tire was not seated correctly on the rim), after which I had to return for them to correct it. Less than two months later, the valve cores of both inner tubes have stripped threading and wont stay in, causing the tubes to become flat and constantly leak, and my tires are worn bald. I took my bike to another shop to get a second opinion and was informed that I was sold the cheapest inner tubes possible, and that for two months of wear my tires were too worn to have been new at the time of purchase. So essentially I overpaid for used tires which were sold as new, and for sub-par labor. I confronted Red Lantern about my dissatisfaction, and all they had to say was "Ok then, I guess that guy is your new shop." Yep, you're right. I will never return here again. You can get better beer at a real bar, and better service at a real bike shop. Too bad.

These guys are really helpful. Though things are a little bit expensive, I'd still consider RLB an affordable place to bring your bike, especially considering the amount of explanation and advice I received. They were friendly, informative and relatively fast. The only reason my experience wasn't incredibly quick was that the dude helping me out took the time to examine, diagnose and then explain the work I needed done as well as recommend future maintenance advice. There's also a bar/cafe in the front if you need to wait a while, I didn't order anything, but its a stand-out feature for sure.

Everyone at Red Lantern is very friendly and knowledgeable and they make fixing even the most annoying bike problem an enjoyable experience. I feel lucky to have this as my local bike shop. Great beer and coffee too!
