We've just been sent papers from BMI, threatening to sue us if we don't pay them a $1500 licensing fee for the live music we have here.

Blatant extortion.

Obviously, we can't afford that. Nor can we afford a lawyer. And they know this.

We're forced to cancel all live performances at the shop and we are also forced to only play the radio in the cafe.

Google "BMI harassment' and you'll get a better idea as to what we're dealing with.

We're very excited to let ya'll know that we've just become a Raleigh dealer.

We've been thinking now for quite some time about who (else) we would like to carry here at the shop. Whelp, we've decided. They have a great reputation, awesome bikes, and offer some really great options for the commuter. All at a really affordable price.

Take a look at our website for some more pics.

At Red Lantern Bicycles, we believe that bicycles are one of human kinds’ greatest inventions.

We also believe that they are the best way to get around this great city. That’s why we specialize in helping you, the commuter.

The bikes we carry are for the commuter and are designed to be used as a utilitarian machine. All of them are tough, rugged, and capable of racks and fenders.

We specialize in useful and functional bicycles. We know that because of what we do to your ride, your livelihood will improve. And we know that our bikes are making other people’s lives better.

The staff has over 30 years of combined experience. We could tell you that we are the best. But every shop does that. What we will tell you is that what we do is done precisely and accurately. Check out the “Service” section for more in-depth details. And when you do come in, our work will be the proof behind the puddin’.

We also happen to have a passion for coffee. We roast our own beans in-house from a single origin bean we get from Guatemala. We also make our own alternative nut milks (i.e. almond, cashew, and sunflower) to go along with that cup of goodness you just ordered. Milks, ice and hot teas, hot chocolates, chai drinks… you name it. All made in-house.

So bring your bike by. Chillax at the bar if you’d like. We have lots of answers to any questions that you may have. We will be more than happy to chat-a-chat-chat with you about all things bike. Because here at Red Lantern, we’re all about the bike love.

Watch out and be careful these guys don't rip you off. They asked around $70 to repair some broken spokes. I went a couple blocks over to bicycle world and got it done for $30

I DID NOT RIDE MY BIKE WHILE IT HAD A FLAT ! I got my first flat fixed here! I wasn't inside for more than 5 minutes on Sunday 10/19. I DID NOT RIDE MY BIKE HOME. I woke up Wednesday morning to the same flat. I was so pissed I gave away $13 + plus tip, when i never even RODE MY BIKE! i didn't ask for receipt :( My sister went and explained how upset i was. The shop fixed the flat again LAST Sunday for FREE. The shop told my sister i'll get a FLAT AGAIN in the next 2 to 3 day because the inside is old. I NEVER GOT THE FLAT AGAIN. Last night I almost got into an ACCIDENT, because my brakes were TAMPERED with. MY BREAKS WERE F#8K!NG FINE LIKE WTF!! 1 STAR bad service. 1 STAR for lying to my sister. 1 STAR for not giving me a receipt. 1 STAR cause now i got to fix my breaks. 1 STAR cause now my bike makes this noise it never had. 1 STAR for wasting my time ! Thank GOD i got to dodge the last minute car door. All i got was a sprained pinky finger and a little cut on my point finger.

Great place to grab a coffee, lunch or beer, and they make their own non-dairy milks (which change daily) huge plus for me. Staff is great too!

This place is what every bike shop should be, and hey, there is a great cafe in there too. I found the place because it was on my old home to work commute. Now, I don't live or work in Brooklyn and still make my way out to red lantern for a coffee/beer and opinions on anything that's going on with my bike. They are happy to give advice, judgment free, and always a fair price.
