8 String Brahms Guitar
Introduction
“ Lyrical interpretations, exceptional talent with virtuoso technique” writes Mike Cimballa, music critic and violinist with the Charlotte Symphony. Born and educated in Pittsburgh, Matthew Korbanic has earned a masters degree in classical guitar performance from Carnegie Mellon University studying with James Ferla, and post graduate studies with Tom Kitka from Duquesne University.  As a player on the newly innovated 8 string “Brahms” style guitar, he has toured the east cost and mid-west. Recently, Mr. Korbanic was awarded a prestigious grant from the Pittsburgh Arts Council to study with Paul Galbraith (Brazilian Guitar Quartet and Grammy nominee). He has been a return performer with the Three Rivers Arts Festival, the Pittsburgh Opera,  the Pittsburgh Arts Council, and Erie Arts festival. As a soloist and as a member of a flute and guitar duo, he has been presented live on WQED-FM in Pittsburgh and WQEJ Johnstown. His latest release Matthew Korbanic:8 string guitar debuts new pieces by Robert Maggio and Reed Maxson.
