Haven't been here in a while and was super surprised at how horrible the food was. I even had to ask if it was under new ownership. My husbands ribs looked broiled with BBQ sauce, the salad was old, soup was cold my daughter innocently made the comparison to the smell and taste of her elementary school cafeteria food. Very disappointing. On the bright side, the root beer float was good! Saddly we won't be going back.

34 years with never sending food back to a kitchen, and it went back twice. They have poor quality meat, can't cook to order, and they give you a bunch of bland side items to try and make it seem like a good value. Bottom line: Overpriced boiled dog!

The moment we sat down we were served delicious vegetable soup, a side of beans and salsa to mix in. Next we received a garden salad before our entree; I had the 6 oz filet wrapped in bacon and my husband had the 12 oz NY, both cooked perfectly to order. Staff was very friendly but efficient. Highly recommend if your in the mood for steak.

Been there several times over the past decade - always incredible. Hubby keeps taking and winning the gambler challenge - best steak ever every time. Can't wait to be in the area to go again!

We have eaten here twice now and loved it both times. The staff is all trained really well, super friendly and good at what they do. The food was perfect and we always leave with leftovers. It is a little expensive but well worth it. We will go here every time we are in the area.

Wanted to try something other than F. Mclintocks (or Tanner Jacks), so we went with A.J. Spurs. First time dining here. The food was amazing! So much food. Beans, salsa, and soup to start (which I thought would be so-so, but ended up being amazing). Then followed by a nice salad, with great croutons. My little one ordered the chicken alfredo and she loved it. Their kids meals come with all the extras too, and for only $7.99! I ordered the 6 oz steak with pork ribs. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Taste was great! I also really liked the ribs. You get rice pilaf, garlic bread, spuds, soup, salsa, beans - and dessert with EVERY meal. The rice pilaf was great, and so were the potatoes (but I did like the pilaf more). The garlic bread was great. My husband had a rum and coke, which he said was perfect. Not too strong, not too weak. My little one ordered a Shirley Temple, and they put 4 cherries in it, so she loved it even more than ones she's had before at other places. Then for dessert they serve you a root beer floats with Mug root beer; delicious! They'll even let you do vanilla ice cream with fudge if you don't care for root beer floats. So yummy! All and all, I absolutely loved this place! Our server was so friendly, and so was the host who seated us. We loved our food, the atmosphere was great, and although the prices may seem a bit high from browsing their menu online, I promise you won't be disappointed! You are given SO much food the money that it's beyond worth it. You could even order one meal and share it (although if you ask them to split they plate I assume they'll charge you, so just do it yourself). We had plenty of leftovers! A lot, actually. I honestly think we'll be coming here from now on, rather than Mclintocks. This place serves better food, more food, and it's cheaper! Keep up the great work, A.J. Spurs! Thank you for the great experience, and great food.

The decor is entertaining - done up like an old-style saloon and with animal heads hanging from just about every available wall space. Plenty of character and the kids had a fun time exploring. The food however, was disappointing. Every meal comes with their special soup with beans and salsa, along with salad, rice, potatoes, garlic bread, and a root beer float. There aren't any options on the menu to avoid all these extras, and it was just too much food! The soup was probably the highlight. Both the steaks and ribs, while supposedly specialties, were really disappointing, and poorly cooked - we didn't even come close to finishing them. Overall, entertaining atmosphere but I wouldn't go back.

The steak was cooked to my liking of medium rare with good cajun rub and butter. The beef ribs are tenderly cooked and deliciously flavored. The manager was kind enough to let me have just a small side of ribs for a fraction of the cost of the side since the steak and its sides were too much for one person already. The garlic toast was excellent. The salsa is unique and very tasty. Although the homefries and onions were mediocre, the meat is good and that was more than enough. It is worth it for some good bbq ribs and a nice steak. I would recommend it.
