How Can Blue Ridge Hiker Help You?

Love the trails in DuPont State Forest, Gorges State Park, and the Pisgah Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest in Western North Carolina?  Of course you do, or you would if you knew them.  What’s not to like about cool mountain trails offering a cornucopia of hikes of all difficulty levels and with superb features including forever mountain views, tons of different kinds of waterfalls, lakes, misty morning meadows, and the best sunrises and sunsets in the world?  Let Blue Ridge Hiker help you find your next hike.
Hello, my name is Bret James Stewart.  I am a native of Brevard, North Carolina, a gorgeous community near Asheville, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina, in Transylvania County.  For nearly forty years, I have combed these trails, enjoying the wonder, contemplation, and mental and physical health that are the natural result of experiencing these trails.  I know these trails as well as you know the roads around your home.  Put my experience at your disposal for free at https://www.blueridgehiker.com

Why is Blue Ridge Hiker Necessary?

As I hiked these trails, I frequently went online for information.  Driving directions, perhaps, trail status, things like that.  Much to my disbelief, I found virtually nothing about the trails online.  Some of the better known trails might appear in a blog or similar page, but most of the other trails had nothing at all about them except for some that appeared only as existing on a trail map or other resource.  The abundance, features, and beauty of these trails should be shared.  I figured if I were looking for information, others were, too.

After some thought, I decided to found Blue Ridge Hiker.  I cannot hike all the trails in the world, or even the state, but I can share with the world the trails in my own backyard.  I devoted myself to providing meaningful trail information about every trail, including driving directions, length, difficulty, and what you are going to see.  Each trail has been measured carefully and photos taken to whet your appetite to see the real thing.  Some of the trails have video.  Each trail has its own page on the website.  All the information is free.

What Can You Find?

Blue Ridge Hiker specializes in the following three areas:

DuPont State Forest:  This is a haven for hikers, a prime destination for horseback riders, and a mecca for mountain bikers.  These trails are mostly short and easy to moderate with many of the trails originally gravel roads.  The majority of the trails can be combined to create a hike suiting your preference.  There are five lakes here.

Gorges State Park:  Lesser known that the other two units, Gorges offers a nice mix of short and long distance trails.  There is one long distance trail here allowing mountain biking and horseback riding.  Primitive camping, picnic areas, and overlooks make this a destination you don’t want to miss.  The visitor centre alone is worth the trip, offering long range views into three states.

Pisgah Ranger District:  This is the flagship district of the Pisgah National Forest.  There are far too many things to do to list them all here, but hiking trails of all lengths and types are in this venerable destination.  Day hikers and backpackers alike are going to fall in love with the forest.  Mountain bikers and equestrians have many opportunities to do their thing here, too.
