Dear artists, dear friends,

It's been an interesting journey for us at The ArtisTank Team. Since our Kickstarter campaign we have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to create what we promised you, a social network for artists, by artists.

There have been ups and downs, and more than a few bugs, but we are now VERY excited to be able to present to you:

ArtisTank Beta | www.artistank.com

We can't wait for you to jump on board and join our already strong community of users. We've been waiting for such a long time for you to be able to make ArtisTank yours. To make it your home and make it part of your creative process.
So now is the time to sign up, join in... to let us know what you think. We hope that you'll want to connect, to exchange, to discover.. to use ArtisTank as the tool it is intended to be.

We are so grateful for your support and enthusiasm throughout the process - and we can't wait to meet those of you we haven't yet connected with in our new home!

It feels wonderful to have something to give you now, and we hope you'll grasp it with both hands!

Take care
Chloe, Founder of ArtisTank

Are you a young artist? Are you interested in residencies, searching for insights and tips? Look no further!

As part of our talk series - How did they do it? - we are organising an evening of ideas, experiences and suggestions, all focused on residencies. How to land a great one, where to look at and whom to ask. Whether you are planning to go abroad or stay in th UK, come and meet the artists who have been there and the curators who make them happen.

We have the chance to welcome a panel of young artists and the curators of two galleries organising regular residencies in London (By Other Means and Griffin Gallery), all here to share their experience and answer your questions. We look forward to seeing you there!

FEATURED ARTIST | Lara Drnovšek

Lara graduated from Grammar School Celje-Center - Art Department in 2012 and went on to studying BA Fashion & Textile Design at Ljubljana's Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering. Through those years she learned traditional drawing and painting, sculpting and design. She was introduced to various artistic styles and practices, using various media. Lara has always had an interest to learn and create in all fields of art so she hope to develop a practice that would hold true to that ambition.
Lara is interested in the unconscious, the dream-like, fantasy, and the nightmarish, whatever sparks from the mind. Her work is heavily influenced by the surrealistic imagery and features elements that seem to be out of place and stem from thought process lead by free association. She tends to draw in intricate, organic lines and use deep, rich colour tones that make for a fanciful piece.
These drawings are both recent, merging fantastical aesthetics and influence of phantasmagorical narratives. While she is still exploring different styles and concepts to implement in her work she has always found my ideas to fall in line with surrealistic art. Much like the frontmen of Surrealism, she attempts to illustrate imagery that comes to her as a result of her subconsciousness.
While surrealists have been criticised for involving conscious mind into their creative process, being purposeful with every compositional element, Lara tends to let her train of thought flow through free associations and let the image form itself before me. She does not plan the composition as traditionally done, taking in consideration the pre-determined meaning and symbolic value of its ingredients. What she strives for is that the viewer forms their own opinion of what the implicit message might be. She want for her works to be telling, thought-provoking, lyrical and meaningful, though the meaning they might hold is obscure even to
