I really like how the connecting arm shows right up in the M51 shot.

The Ring Nebula - M57

Tried to image Saturn last night but it was too low to get anything decent, so I had a go at M57, which was right overhead.

150mm f/5 Newtonian, with DSLR at prime focus. 90 x 30 second exposures at ISO 6400. Stacked in GCX and post processed (reduce light pollution, adjust levels and crop at 1:1 scale) in the GIMP.

Jupiter, Io and Europa Animation

I captured some images of the conjunction of Io and Europa last night over about an hour and combined them into an animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdh0ZVh1D0w

Used a 150mm f/5 Newtonian with 5x Powermate and a Philips webcam.

I'm attaching a still image.

Mercury Transit 2016

These are my best two of the day...

First one through a 300mm lens with Baader solar filter. 1/800s at ISO 200.

The other one through a PST, eyepiece projection with a 12.5mm e.p. 1/80s at ISO 400. Scaled down to about 20%.

Had some goldfinches in the garden last week and captured some video of them eating dandelions.

Moon & Venus, 21 April 2015

I took some shots of the Moon and Venus setting while looking for Lyrid meteors this evening. The first one is with a 50mm lens and the others are with a 135mm.

I saw three Lyrids over about an hour and a half.
