The British housing market is a contentious topic, and many people have different views on the matter according to their age and circumstances. However, in recent years, homeownership has become unattainable for many young people, prompting the Government to release a 106-page report: ‘Fixing our broken housing market’.

In his latest insight, Richard Hair discusses the recent whitepaper and highlights the key findings of the report, explaining in clear terms what these mean for you.

CREATIVE HUB SET TO GIVE THAMES ESTUARY NEW MEANING

Well known for its shipping transportation, industrial sites and fishing, a Government development project is set to give new meaning to the Thames Estuary.

Under plans hoped to be completed by 2050, the forty-mile stretch of water is set to become a hub for the creative industry. With proposals for theatre-making studios, research laboratories, a foundry for large sculptures and the creation of the largest 3D printing centre in the UK, it is hoped that creative developments across East London, Essex and Kent will generate thousands of new jobs.

Southend, Castle Point and Rochford have been included as potential sites in the plans that aim to strengthen creative talent and innovation in the South East. If the proposal takes off, it is hoped that the Thames Estuary will become an internationally-recognised centre for the creative industries.
