Interesting and thoughtful suggestion for effective wind turbine
This short, inspiring video introduction to the "Stealth" wind turbine shows a simple design of home electricity generator that is really elegant! This is a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (or VAWT) that is more compact than the more common horizontal type (HAWT).

+Lockheed Martin go public with plans for Fusion Reactor prototype by Dec 2015.

I just came across this story - and while I knew about the project ever since they talked about it at Google Shoot for X in 2013 They hadn't given definite timelines till this announcement.

If they actually pull this off - it can solve the entire worlds energy crisis virtually overnight.

Given the announced timeline - it would also go a LONG way to solving Climate change issues - Success will make possible turning off Coal Fired power in a realistic timeframe.

Chances are it would have a huge impact on the Middle East political situation as well.

I saw this last year.
I'm waiting to see full scale independant testing before coming to any conclusions.
There are multiple fusion technologies coming out now, but none have delivered in full scale testing for reason or another.
Michiu Kaku built one in his garage when he was a kid.

I am hoping somebody in my circles has a boat at Whangaparoa and would be OK with helping me get to TiriTiri Matangi on Tue 3rd of Feb.

My daughter is dead keen to see the Kiwi's and so we'd be staying overnight and catching the Ferry home on Wed So I'd only need a lift one way.

We want to see the Kiwis so we need to stay overnight.

The challenge is on ALL the days the ferry runs for the next 2 months - the bunkhouse is fully booked.  (I didn't realise we should have planned this trip 6 months ago!)

If we arrive on the Tue - when the Ferry does NOT run - we can get a room in the bunkhouse no problem. We plan to catch the ferry back on the Wed.

I'm happy to pay for someone's gas etc to drop us off.

I've asked a few friends who live out that way - but so far nobody has a boat - and while they are asking around, nobody has been able to confirm one for me yet.

An EXCELLENT article on the idea of changing NZ's flag.

Written by the designer of my personal favourite.

I do hope this is the flag we end up with!

Interesting possibilities for this material... Vik, I think you showed me something along these lines a couple of weeks back.

I'm pretty sure +Vik Olliver has PLA that has impact modifiers in it which exhibit a lot of these same qualities.  It's been around for quite some time.  It is nice that other companies are starting to experiment with it though.

This is a definite step forward for 3D printing in the medical space.  I wonder when the first person will have Vulcan/ Elf ears printed - for permanent installation?
