Rude staff member Anna made me cancel my reservation before we even arrived. Called her to confirm our reservation and she said the amount of guests we have (5) wont fit in the room we reserved for 5. She wanted more money per night. I asked to speak with a manager and she told me they are not in???THEY MIGHT CALL ME BACK IN 2 DAYS. She was rude and hung up the phone on me. I will never take my family to this resort. Beware all the other bad reviews. I AM STILL WAITING ON THE GENERAL MANAGER ALVAREZ TO CALL ME.

In need of maintenance. We stayed in unit TS301 of the Thoroughbred Suites on Aug 17 2013, $354 with tax. Elevator was broken. We were on the third floor. The elevator would not call to the third floor. You could take the elevator up to the third floor, but you could not take it down. Staff was aware of the problem but did not place a sign on the elevator or even inform us of the problem verbally. . Short in light switch for loft bedroom lights. Needed to wiggle the switch back and forth (every time) to get the lights to work. . Bare bulbs in light fixture in loft bedroom / Light shade missing from ceiling fixture in loft bedroom. . Loose cellulose insulation on one of the beds in the loft bedroom, from the attic access port over the bed. . Very poor TV reception in living room (I fixed this for them, by tightening the cable connector). . Artificial fireplace in master bedroom did not work. Did not get the room type that we wanted or expected, due to discrepancy on the doublejj web site. I’m sure that the back forty experience is better, but the Thoroughbred Suites resort hotel needs a bigger maintenance budget, or a staff that cares more.

LOVED our stay at the Double JJ Ranch the accomodations are very rustic so don't go expecting a fancy experience we stayed in the back forty cabins it was very cozy i wish i would have brought my own sheets and blanket and pillow the stuff they provide is very basic. We went on trail rides very reasonably priced and very nice they also had archery no extra fee a petting zoo pretty small but cute had a campfire at night made smores and roasted weenies we went to the water park i think 25 dollars a person is a little much for the small older water park but we had fun we definitely will be back the workers are so nice and we had a GREAT time!!!

We were had a 7 days reservation at Double JJ ranch in Aug 2013. The room service was terrible...we had to call to get our room cleaned on the scheduled day. We had a baby in diaper so it was very gross to get the garbage taken out every 3rd day. The outdoor walk in swimming pool with sprinkler had a hole in the drain, that my toddler could have fallen in. The outdoor pools were not full enough to filter the water properly. They had containers of bleach outside exposed to sunlight and to where anyone had access to them, by the water slide and condos. I asked for a refund and never got one. The ranch had much needed maintenance and up keep. They did not allow toddlers to ride with an adult/parent to go on the trail rides, which was inconvenient. ( Other ranches do allow this.) We left a day early, because we were tired of the terrible service.

Had a great stay in the Back Forty cabins. We rented privately. Staff hospitality was excellent. Plenty to do. Day pass not necessary. Indoor water park a little pricy @ $25 per person. Close to Silver Lake for a daily outing. Enjoyed pig roast and rodeo. Trail ride was well worth it. Especially for a first time rider.

I found this by chance as my son was staying at a local camp and we had a weekend between sessions. I did not purchase the waterpark pass when I booked our room in the Loft, unfortunately because my kids ended up wanting to play there and I spent 75.00 for the 3 of them. I think that's really quite steep. Internet does NOT work at the Loft. So, if you're like me and need to work on the weekends, you have to go to the main lodge to get internet. The rooms at the loft were old, but ok. No frills, but clean and decent. We ate at the cafe in the main lodge several times. Great pizza and wait staff were very nice. Overall many things were a bit overpriced, but the kids had a good time.
