A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. (NLT) ( 1 Corinthians 12:7 )

Have you identified your spiritual gift? When you use your spiritual gift, usually you have a feeling of a confident joy. A spiritual gift could be healing, encouragement, giving, teaching, wisdom, discernment, or leadership. It's important to identify your gift so you can use it to benefit others. Take a few moments to determine what your gift is and how you can leverage it to help others.

And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. (NLT) ( Titus 2:7 )

It's easier to tell someone what to do than it is to lead by example. Modeling our beliefs is much more impactful and makes the value ingrained deeper in all who see our example. Telling others what and how to react takes the choice away from them. God will speak to them and show them the error of their ways through your behavior alone. Set the example and let all you do be a reflection of Him.

Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you. (NLT) ( 1 Timothy 4:16 )

Occasionally we find ourselves in positions where we cannot overtly share the reason for our joy. Teachers often find themselves wanting to share more about Christ but are limited. We can still find ways to sprinkle messages of hope through encouragement, joy, and extending grace. Recommend books, open invitations outside of the limited environment, or just be your lovable self. Above all, stay true to your faith.

So the king of Jericho sent orders to Rahab: "Bring out the men who have come into your house, for they have come here to spy out the whole land." (NLT) ( Joshua 2:3 )

Rahab was a noble woman who put her faith in God by protecting the invading Jewish spies from her fellow King. By the way, she was also the town prostitute. That didn't stop her from stepping out and being courageous. Nor did it stop God from using her in the future. Did you know that Jesus was her descendent? When you are challenged in your faith because of your past, take courage. You are very valuable.

"I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me," (NLT) ( John 10:14 )

These words came straight from Jesus' mouth. If you ever wonder whether Jesus cares for you or loves you, this is your verse. He knows you so well, even the cry of your heart. He is a good shepherd who has sacrificed Himself for you. If you are wondering where God is in your life or if He cares for you, this is your message. These are His words speaking directly to you.

When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father. (NLT) ( John 15:8 )

The majority of our days can be spent working and laboring trying to produce fruitfulness. Is your profession one that goest against your faith? Does it continuously put you in a position that forces you to choose against what you believe is right? This is a difficult situation. Perhaps it's time to make a change and take a stand, have a difficult conversation, or possibly change jobs. God will honor you and provide exactly what you need when you need it. He will be faithful to those who honor Him. Who knows what kind of impact you will have on policies, fellow co-workers, or your position.

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. (NLT) ( 1 Timothy 6:10 )

Why does the Bible take such a strong position against loving money? Perhaps because of the power we give to money. If we aren't careful, we place a greater emphasis on gaining money and maintaining possessions as a greater priority than loving our family and friends. Or worse, our mind becomes consumed with thoughts of money and how much things cost more than thinking of God. Is the majority of your thoughts and attention focused on conserving, increasing, or saving money? If so, could you be piercing yourself with many sorrows?

Always be joyful. (NLT) ( 1 Thessalonians 5:16 )

Can you find happiness wherever you are in life? If so, this is a powerful lesson that will bless you throughout life. Otherwise, we will runaway from relationships, environments, jobs, or even cities to escape unhappiness. Ultimately we never deal with our unhappiness and carry it around to the next friendship, job, or marriage. It's helpful to recognize joy, embracing contentedness, or stop comparisons that cause you to be dissatisfied with your life. Practice identifying your joy in life.

You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others. (NLT) ( 2 Timothy 2:2 )

Mentoring and discipling doesn't mean we have to have our life together in order to take part in the mentoring. It's coming alongside someone and sharing a wee bit of our wisdom gained over the years. Quite possibly, just our presence alone of consistent connection builds up another and keeps our spirits high through the difficult times. Is there someone in your life that you are consistently pouring into and passing along these truths? Is God calling you to step out and mentor?

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. (NLT) ( Hebrews 13:15 )

When we pray to God, most of the time we gloss over praising God. Instead, we cut to the chase and just ask God to bless us, our children, and heal our neighbors. Yet we serve a powerful God. One who deserves to be recognized and admired for His love, power, and grace. Let's spend a few moments talking to God by sharing our love and honor for Him. Isn't He glorious?

Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. (NLT) ( Romans 12:17 )

It happens fairly often, someone will be inconsiderate or mistreat you. In that split moment you have one of two options. You can choose to return evil or you can be honorable. Your response is a reflection of how you view God. If you think God will stand by and let this go unnoticed, you will respond with evil. Or if you believe God's righteous anger will pay them back, you will respond honorably and leave the rest up to God. How will you choose to respond in the moment you face mistreatment?

Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory. (NLT) ( Romans 15:7 )

Do you ever get irritated by the noisy kids at the nearby table? Or how about the slow, elderly driver in front of you? When you view them through the same loving perspective that God has for you, everything turns upside down. He loves them with a reckless abandonment, just as He feels for you. Perhaps those noisy kids are celebrating a momentous birthday or the elderly driver dreading their next visit to the oncologist. Extend some grace, love, and acceptance.
