Essayist, contributor at Synchronized Chaos, body image educator,
domestic violence survivor, mother of 2 & grandma of 3. Married to David Grassi McDaniels. I write about body image, violence against women, poverty and class issues, racism and various progressive issues. I also enjoy cooking and sometimes post recipes or links to recipes at Livejournal and Facebook. If more friends join google plus I may do so here as well. I run a recipe group on Facebook.I'm a vegetarian but not a preachy one. I'm old enough to know not everyone is going to give up meat but I encourage people to find sources other than factory farmed meat and to reduce consumption so animals are no longer living in crowded pens and feedlots. Meatless Mondays are a start.
I won multiple scholarships while in college and got my BA in Anthropology while raising my two kids, I was a student senator at Cabrillo college and a peer counselor at the Women's Center, started the forum gaudiya-repercussions.com for former members of the Hare Krishna movement, helped found the Body Image Task Force and was assistant Chair, edited an early online 'zine called Uppity Women at labyris.com/Uppity/ still available in archived pages.
