Look at this! This 19 year old Kenyan girl raised the funds to go to Hacker School in NYC, and then couldn't get a tourist visa because they're afraid that she's going to going to outstay her welcome. Agh! It makes my blood boil. Anyway, instead of being disheartened, she's setting up a Hacker School in Nairobi. What a badass! Here's where you give her money:

Proud to see +Mark Zuckerberg promote G+.  Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Not too long ago, Facebook additionally imitated the j/k vim-style nav form G+ in Facebook. The only reason I noticed is because before I would be disgusted everytime I couldn't use it on Facebook and would just not look at it anymore. But now I've been using facebook more. It makes me a kind of sad that I have.

As someone who spent a weekend not so long ago writing code to transmit 1024 bytes in 40 seconds via CPU usage of a process to another process, I understand their excitement.

I just discovered I can recycle my Brita filters at particular locations (don't even have to use mail!). This makes me absolutely gleeful. I am possibly odd.

They are amazing. Go support them if you can. =)

Shop and support local. Give Columbia the gift of circus expansion by contributing to Alternacirque's Kickstarter, and get nifty rewards back: everything from collector trading cards to private lessons to the entire circus performing in your backyard, wedding or corporate event. They have to raise another $5,200 and meet their goal in the next two weeks or they don't get a cent.

It begins...

Your photos +Emotion

Google+ Photos is all about sharing your experiences and emotions with the people you care about. We’re constantly looking for ways to help you create richer, more expressive photographs.

Many months of research on how people communicate on the Internet have convinced us that when it comes to expressing yourself, nothing beats the richness and elegance of a few properly placed colons, parentheses, letters and hyphens.

:-)  :P :O :/

These representations of your innermost emotions are simple, and best of all, unambiguous :P

So starting today, we will give you the option to add stylized emotions to your photos. To give it a try, simply open one of your pictures in the lightbox, and click the “Add emotion” button at the top left of the screen.

We will plumb the emotional depths of everyone in the photo, then summarize their feelings with a beautifully crafted, emotion icon. Click on the button again to return to the original version of your photo. We hope you enjoy using the feature and we look forward to seeing your emotionally-charged posts ;)

I enjoyed the epic background music. I was wondering the whole time "What if Slinky doesn't make it this time?!? Who will take care of his sick mother and two kids??" Tune in next time!

I'm amused that they referred to the river as the Hooch. How southern and Atlantian of them. =)

Thanks for reminding me! My husband and I were discussing this piece a few days ago (one of my friends had posted it on FB) but I don't think I actually sent it to him...

Hello indie music people!

Now that Google Music has fully launched, there is a feature included called the Artists Hub. It allows you to upload your own music and sell it in the Google store at a 70/30 cut in your favor. Unlike Apple and Amazon's store, there's no need for a third-party aggregator to get your tracks listed, and it's integrated with YouTube and this here Google social whatsit as well, so people can share songs and recommend them.

Be warned: There's a one-time $25 fee to get started to keep out the riff raff, but no other fees after that. Click the link below to get more info and get started. Or, for a walkthrough check out this article from SlashGear: http://www.slashgear.com/google-music-artist-hub-hands-on-part-1-getting-started-16195902/

Please reshare and tag anyone I missed, thanks!

I'd totally pay $25 to have my son's plucking his toy guitar on the music store :-)
