Some of these recently discovered pictures from the July 1915 tragedy that killed 840 people have never been published. 
The photographs capture the aftermath of one of Chicago's worst disasters: rows of sheet-covered bodies inside a temporary morgue, two women crying while clutching a baby in a blanket, a Coast Guard crew hauling a woman out of the river, the Eastland flopped over in the water like a plastic toy in a bathtub, dozens of people atop its side, awaiting rescue.

The excitement about a possible Blackhawks championship repeat is tempered by this very sad story on the rapid decline of a legend due to a brain disorder. 
Walk through the main floor of Jill and Stan Mikita's home in the western suburbs and you will see very little evidence that the man who owns it was one of the greatest players the sport of hockey ever has known.

Mayor Emanuel and officials to say more around noon today. Exact site of the library in Chicago still not know.
For the moment, Chicago is setting aside its reputation for political gamesmanship and celebrating the pre-dawn announcement that the Barack Obama Presidential Library and Museum is coming to the city. It doesn't really matter that an exact site may not be determined for a few months.
