What a goal! Beckham's first goal of the last game seemed like a Goal-of-the-Week winner, but I think this might have it beat!

Watched the +SpaceX launch last night and felt a tremendous sense of pride in an American company going where only government agencies have been able to go in the past. At a fraction NASA's cost, +SpaceX successfully launched the first ever privately owned rocket tasked with transporting supplies to the international space station.

The age of commercial space flight has begun, and it began here in America.

The eclipse last night was an interesting Phenomenon that is notable and deserves discussion. However, much less discussed but in my opinion much more notable is the fact that at 3:00am EST tomorrow morning +SpaceX, a privately held rocket company, will launch the first ever commercial rocket tasked with transporting supplies to the International Space Station.

Why is this significant? Many Americans are lamenting the end of the shuttle program and claiming that we're falling behind in the space race, but this event proves otherwise. Sending personnel and equipment into near earth orbit has become such a regular thing that private industry is now taking over in America. +SpaceX is able to do this for $50-80 million dollars whereas NASA spent $3-4 billion dollars to accomplish the same mission with the shuttle program. It's hard to argue with those figures.

Why is this good? Because NASA's goal is to explore, that is it's purpose. NASA should be focused on exploring the moon and the planets and the stars, that's where our tax dollars are best spent. The transporting of goods and people to near earth orbit is now easy and safe enough that private companies like +SpaceX and +Virgin Galactic can take goods and tourists into space for a fraction of the cost NASA requires.

The privatization of the space industry is happening and it's happening in America. That's something to feel good about.

Google Plus has left quite an imposing white space in the middle of my page now that I'm using my 1920x1080 monitor again. I'll have to put something there.

The explosion of the natural gas industry in America represents the best opportunity we've ever had to achieve energy independence quickly!
EVEN as it tries to slow production down, America is still pumping three billion more cubic feet (85m cubic metres) of natural gas a day out of the ground than it can consume.

I love to create things. Whether I'm building exciting web products for my clients, making music in the studio, or writing for the screen and print I'm at my very best when I'm creating something out of nothing.

And my wife thinks I'm a real catch!
