I really wanted to love this place, I really did. A great old stone building with the restaurant stretching up three floors in this narrow building with so much character. The service was very friendly but unfortunately the food was very bland and the prices were too high for what you got. It is too bad, with such a great location, you could really make a nice restaurant here.

I have been a patron since 1989 when this place was called Thread Needle Alley, Cutters, & for the last few years I, the Rockfish. The service has declined under a recent ownership change. This is a place where I've been meeting up for friends for decades. We all kept saying let's give that place one more chance. Last Friday, We order drinks after a 15 minute wait - seated at the bar. We asked for menus but the bartender took them away without asking if we wanted to order. So we asked for menus again. After another 20 minute wait we were finally given permission to order food. The music was different at each end of the bar. It really seems the new owners / managers are on a learning curve. From now in we'll meet up at Michaels or The Black Cow. Sorry, after 23 years of good service we have to move on... Let us know when you get it together again.

We moved to the US from the UK last year and regularly attend the Rock fish, often taking colleagues from across the pond here after a long day. We always find the staff to be really attentive and helpful. the food here is fantastic, can't believe that anyone could have had a bad experience in here! Steak tips are the best NBPT has to offer and thats well agreed by us all! 5 ***** all they way from me!

Quite possibly the worst bar in Newburyport. The bartender's are rude and the door men are the least intelligent people I have met in Newburyport.

Great place to go on Saturday nights for the live music on the 3rd floor. If you aren't into that then have dinner on the 2nd floor or drinks on the 1st floor. This place has something for everybody. Wait staff is fun, young and attentive.
