"Winter Reflections"
Castle Mountain, Banff National Park, Alberta

http://bit.ly/CBholidaygiveaway

One of my favorite places in the world to photograph winter landscapes happens to be in the Canadian Rockies. This stretch of mountains in Alberta offer some of the most incredible and jaw dropping mountain landscapes in North America and some could argue the world. Here you can see Castle Mountain, situated between Banff and Jasper. This image was taken with a +Sony  #a7r  .

If you are interested in winning a Sony #a6000  or one of 36 other prizes (worth over $4000), be sure to check out my 2014 holiday giveaway. For more info, check out the link below...

Buy this print on Art.com: http://go.art.com/xV1CKxv

Autumn has us looking up at color filled treetops or down at our feet as we crunch through fallen leaves, but contemporary artist Ruth Palmer looks deeper -- to the hidden roots below. Born and raised in Scotland and now residing in Canada, Palmer is a versatile artist who works with various mediums. Her artwork ranges from a blend of realism and abstraction to pure abstracts, all with a focus on spirituality and color. Famous Internet Firsts: Then And Now #Infographic

This infographic from +WebpageFX illustrates a series of famous Internet firsts you may not have known about, including the first spam email, the first item purchased online, and some of the first social media updates. The graphic also shows where these famous firsts are today, and how they’ve grown over the years. Some of the statistics may surprise you!

Some key stats:

• The first spam email was sent by Gary Thuerk in 1978, to 400 people within ARPANET, inviting them to his company's new product demo. Today 54 Billion spam emails are sent daily.

• The first YouTube video was uploaded by Jawed Karim in 2005, which has been viewed more than 16 million times. And now, we watch 6 Billion hours of video each month.

• The first user to join Facebook in 2004 was Arie Hasit, today there are more than 1.3 Billion monthly active users, 1.1 billion of them on mobile.

Departing Indonesia

The team are now all back at base after some extensive scientific surveys of the #coral  reefs of #Indonesia . These ecosystems have the claim to the highest marine #biodiversity  in the world and are host to a plethora of colourful creatures, like this Six Stripe Wrasse. Next stop in the Coral Triangle is the Solomon Islands.

Keep up to date with the latest from the field:

Twice a year, New Yorkers get a chance to experience the occurrence where the setting sun aligns perfectly with east-west streets. #newyork

Our Bird of the Day is a Royal Flycatcher
source distractify.com

There are 4 species of royal flycatchers all with the “royal crown” which is generally only on display during courtship rituals and competitions with other males. Usually the crest is lying flat but opens up like a fan.
