I have a few suggestions that might aid your shown workflow:
Refine Edge -  to help clean up masks more quickly.
Ctrl + RMB to quickly change brush size and hardness rather than using the bracket keys.
Gradient Map adjustment layer , or Curves adjustment layer for easy and very controllable toning work without having to duplicate your base layer.
I realize you might not be using these since its a basic tutorial vid, but I thought I'd share just in case they've escaped your notice.

Awesome!  Thanks for the tips.  I'm always surprised by the fact that no matter how long I use Photoshop there are ALWAYS tricks and shortcuts I don't know.

Not so much a record as a personal milestone. Deadlifted 315 for 5, and 265 squat for 5.

Onward and upward.

Clocked a +1000 point workout on fitoctacy. :)

Circuit days are fun but hard. The light rain on the walk home is nice.

.. so it only took one serious install to get me to start shell scripting.
Whee for the power of linux. In many a way, I feel like I prefer the shell to a gui for many a task. And yay for the internet.. otherwise I'd have to man -k everything I wasn't clear on.

For a lot of things that's true. For the site I'm building up though I need everything from a non-tech-savvy friendly content uploader/page builder to a per-customer storefront.. so a cms with most of that built in one form or another felt like the way to go. (plus its a nice buzzword for the extended resume)

Today I finished the Couch to 5k running program. From 9th and Lincoln to ocean beach @ Judah via golden gate park. First time ever covering that kind of distance at a jog pace. :)
Now to see about some speed and power training.

I've thought of it, but just running further isn't all that intriguing to me. Running faster and better, however, is.

Once I'm a decent runner over 5k distances then I might look to 10k.

Hey friends! (and especially anyone in the bay area)
I'm selling my car. :)
It's a 2004 Kia amanti, 92000 miles with every option aside from moonroof and heated passenger seat. Drives dreamily on the highways and has the power for the SF hills.
Asking $7000
If you or someone you know needs a good set of wheels, email me @ Brandon.a.newton@gmail.com

It seems GDC is always a week when I both have to work late and have no spare cash. :sigh: one of these years I'll make the event and meetups.

Finally getting heavy on the lower body days and it feels so damn good. Sub'ed normal #deadlifts for the Romanian cousins, and felt like I was finally pushing my physical strength envelope rather than my central nervous system coordination. Definitely in the 80%+ 1RM range at 275lb sets. Also finally got the nerve and squatted 205, and pushed the leg press up to about 525. (nice hard push but still the incline still makes it feel like an ego-inflation device as much as a quad workout)

Let P be a point in Euclidean space.
Let X,Y,Z equal the cardinal basis vectors of the space.

L= P dot P or ||P||

N=P/L

P = L*{N dot X, N dot Y, N dot Z}

:)
Trivial identity, but realizing this is he key basis maths for the afore mentioned spherical bilinear algorithm.

Just waiting for work to end...

:) fair point. The overall methodology for normalizing the zero vector will simply result in zero anyway so the answer is still correct.

#linuxnoob spend 15 minutes trying to write a shell script, only to find the functionality already built into a command.

So I'm curious about fitocracy, seeing as, injury not-withstanding, I'm lifting and running multiple days a week. Anyone have an invite?
