If you want the best possible 'cloud' storage with the ability to have your own local network storage in the same 'cloud', take a look at Pogoplug. This link will give you 7GB of free storage instead of the 'normal' 5GB. Unlimited storage is inexpensive and you can use a Pogoplug device and a SATA or USB hard drive at home to give you local storage on your home network. http://pogoplug.extole.com/a/clk/T0P0w

Illuc ivi, Illud Feci

As you know, Hostess Bakery has closed all of its plants due to a workers' strike, and is filing for Federal bankruptcy protection.

Today the court split the company as follows:
The State Department hired all the Twinkies,
The Secret Service hired all the HoHos,
The generals are sleeping with the Cupcakes,
The voters sent all the Ding Dongs to Congress.

How's that for a Zinger?

I don't comment often on 'current events' online. If you know me, you know my politics and some of you still love me anyway.

I expected the Murders in Bengazi, Libya on 9/11/2012 to be more of the same, and it would have been except...

It turns out that I remotely knew one of the men killed in this attack. Sean Smith was a native of San Diego, California; a U.S. Air Force veteran, an amateur radio operator and an EVE Online gamer (Vile Rat). I knew of him from his Ham Radio activities and I had peripheral contact with him in EVE Online, where my ship was repeatedly blown up by his Goonswarm confederates.

From all that I know of him, he lived his public life by Theodore Roosevelt's philosophy of "Speak softly, but carry a big stick." His dedication to diplomacy was evident in everything I know of him, both in his working life and in his gaming alter ego.

I doff my cap in honor of his 16+ years of service to our Republic. My condolences and sympathy go out to his wife and children in particular and to all who find this world diminished by his loss.
