It's always bugged me that people always go to Chandler when talking about the Sandman Slim books. Hammett is a lot more important to me than Chandler. Yeah Raymond had some good wise cracks, but when it came to seeing the often bleak brutality of the world, Hammett was the real thing. If you like my stuff, you should give Hammett a try.
In Red Harvest, as in Yojimbo and A Fistful of Dollars—and in all the dark and mighty works that truly understand them as an inspiration—tarnished chivalry is what the story is truly about.

Congratulations at all the winners!
Earlier tonight, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America handed out the Nebula Award in Chicago, and this year women have swept one of science fiction’s biggest awards.

A terrific list.
Ready for your TBR list to explode? I've gathered the 100 best sci-fi fantasy novels by female authors and there is sooooo much reading goodness to dig into. From YA to adult lit, from magical realism
