Richard Sharp returned to KCRA 3 in June of 2004 as a general assignment reporter. He comes to Sacramento from Ohio, but is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Richard started his career with an internship at KCRA 3 in the summer of 1997. Since then he has moved around the country, working as an anchor and reporter in Utah, Mississippi, Texas and Ohio.
Richard enjoys covering the fast-paced breaking news that often happens during the evenings in Sacramento. He also enjoys heading up to Blue Canyon to cover the winter snow in the Sierra Mountains.
Richard has covered a wide range of news in his career around the country, from crime to nuclear reactors to adventure sports. For more than two years, Richard followed the troubled Davis-Besse Nuclear reactor in Northwest Ohio as it was shut down, repaired and re-opened after coming dangerously close to a reactor core leak. He has also flown with the Blue Angels, hang glided thousands of feet in the air, and accomplished Northwest Ohio's first underwater live shot as part of an adventure sports series.
Richard says he is excited to be back in Sacramento. He looks forward to learning more about the people and cultures of the incredibly diverse region.
When he's not reporting, he enjoys spending time with his wife and golden retriever outdoors.
