The Institute of Export presents Opportunity Brazil to be held in London on 24 April. Brazil overtook the UK as the world’s sixth largest economy.

With a population of circa 200 million, a well educated middle class, and growing purchasing power, there are opportunities for UK exporters in a range of sectors including: ICT; clean technologies; aerospace, energy; tourism; fashion and luxury goods.

With these great opportunities, there are also challenges including the infrastructure, and a complex tax and legal system. Meanwhile, Brazil and the UK have strong commercial ties, which both countries have a willingness to strengthen! http://bit.ly/ZqsGhV

A combination of successful trade negotiations, excellent marketing by producers, growing demand from mature markets, particularly the USA, and the growing middle class in emerging economies helped Scotch Whisky exports hit a record £4.3bn last year. Africa is now one of the brighter prospects, with 2012 exports up 7% to £239m. The strongest growth was in Nigeria, Angola, Egypt and Morocco, while the more mature South African market saw falls of 15% by volume and 2% by value. http://bbc.in/13QglMw
