If you've recovered from all the great announcements of Google I/O 2016 Keynote (my highlight was Instant Apps, quite mind-blowing!), checkout these awesome launches that Google Play brought to Android developers this time:

So proud of what the team has done here!

Excellent read. Love this quote:

"Another reason is that shared experiences connect us more to other people than shared consumption. You're much more likely to feel connected to someone you took a vacation with in Bogotá than someone who also happens to have bought a 4K TV."

Really proud of the work team has done on this one! Google Play is growing up and I'm excited about the changes that will benefit our users while still allowing developers to iterate quickly and build successful business with us.

"Art of the brick" exhibition (sculptures made out of LEGOs) at Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane is awesome - go see it. All of the sculptures are cool and beautiful, but a few featuring pencils feel particularly relevant and inspiring today.

“Religion, a mediaeval form of unreason, when combined with modern weaponry becomes a real threat to our freedoms. This religious totalitarianism has caused a deadly mutation in the heart of Islam and we see the tragic consequences in Paris today. I stand with Charlie Hebdo, as we all must, to defend the art of satire, which has always been a force for liberty and against tyranny, dishonesty and stupidity. ‘Respect for religion’ has become a code phrase meaning ‘fear of religion.’ Religions, like all other ideas, deserve criticism, satire, and, yes, our fearless disrespect.”  –Salman Rushdie

One of the discoveries from my Japan trip earlier this year was that they don't bother too much about getting English translations of various public messages right. Plenty of hilarious examples, but the one below from a hotel hallway must be a favourite. I am genuinely not sure what this message was about :)
