Our first breakfast event is this Thursday, September 19th, at 7:30 a.m. at Heist Brewery in Charlotte. We're thrilled to announce we're hosting Brad Panovich from WCNC and Mark Basnight from the Charlotte Fire Department. Both are experienced social media users, who use it on their jobs, personally, and more importantly, to keep you informed in the event of an emergency.
Our Director of Content, Lisa Frame, was at Charlotte Douglas International not too long ago when Mark reached out to her on Foursqure after reports of smoke in Concourse E. It's a new way of utilizing social media, going to people who are using location services for check-in's to get on the ground updates. With the tragic flooding in Colorado, as well as other weather and safety events occurring all over our country, we feel this session couldn't come at a better time for the members of our community.
Brad Panovich is Chief Meteorologist for local NBC Affiliate WCNC and known as @WXBrad on Twitter. He's a Broadcast Meteorologist with over 14 years of experience forecasting from the great lakes Snowbelts to the gulf coast and now the Appalachian mountains and the Carolinas.

Brad considers severe weather coverage the benchmark of his work on air and on-line. Since weather happens 24/7 365, Brad is called to work on the weathers schedule, not his own. Through mastering developing technologies and digital content he's able to reach viewers on their schedules where and when weather is most important to them.

Brad's  goals are to be the leading source of weather information, especially severe weather coverage in his local community and beyond. He doesn't just work in meteorology, he lives, eats, breathes and sleeps weather.

A 27-year veteran of the Charlotte Fire Department, Mark Basnight is a Public Information Officer assigned to the Office of Media & Public Affairs. Mark serves as the executive producer of the Internet based "CFD Talk Radio Show" and "Flashover" an internal video communication production. He is responsible for the research, development, and application of social media technology as well as digital media.

Basnight served as a Lead PIO during the 2012 Democratic National Convention (DNC) and was responsible for leading the efforts to plan, coordinate and implement the Joint Information Center for Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Mark created the slogan "Build an A.R.K." and was part of the brain trust responsible for the flood safety and awareness initiative that adopted this slogan. Basnight is past Chair of the Department of Homeland Security Virtual Social Media Working Group. Mark is an alumni of the inaugural FEMA 389 Masters Public Information Officer Course.

You can buy tickets to Thursday's breakfast via our new partnership with Square, who is hosting our online selling portal here: https://squareup.com/market/social-media-charlotte. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. (We are also able to take cards at the door the day of the event.)

We'd like to thank Heist Brewery in NODA for hosting this months breakfast. Not just a brewery, Heist offers twisted American cuisine specializing in hands-on culinary experiences, fairy tale wedding receptions, wine pairings, and one-of-a-kind menus. They are located at 2909 N. Davidson Street. You can get directions to Heist via Google Maps.

We've had a change of guests today, but we have two amazing experts on branding.

One is +Amy Bradley-Hole from Little Rock, AR. Want to know more about her? Here's her bio!

Corporate world? Amy Bradley-Hole has been there, done that. In fact, she did it very well, all while wearing six inch heels and keeping a wicked sense of humor. But nose-to-the-grindstone was never her style, and she hated how contemporary business structures and workplace roles were destroying her sanity and her family. In 2010 she chucked it all in an effort to reach her goals of empowering women, rethinking traditional work modes, and teaching businesses how to be more successful by deviating from the norm.
