BEST mexican food and margaritas in La Mesa. I've lived near here for as long as I can remember and have eaten here quite a few times. I'm unfortunately a creature of habit and have been stuck on their Cheese Crisp dish forever because well... it's delicious. I've ventured out a few times and tried their healthy options which were all also super good but the cheese crisp has me stuck. I get a mixture of both the beef and chicken. So good! The Padre Pride margarita is heavenly as well. Love coming here for some comfort food and a drink. The band playing throughout the restaurant is also a nice touch but they honestly get annoying after about 10 minutes. It's typically super loud in there and hard to hear whoever your eating dinner with, so I usually volunteer to sit outside or on the patio so escape that.

WORLD-CLASS MEXICAN FOOD AWAY FROM THE CROWDS If you want some of San Diego's finest Mexican cuisine without fighting the tourist crowds in Old Town, Casa de Pico in Grossmont Center is the place. Formerly located in Old Town, Casa de Pico set up shop in Grossmont when the Bazaar Del Mundo lost a bidding war for that location. San Diego locals still seek out the old Bazaar del Mundo restaurants, following the food no matter where it is served. Margaritas the size of bird baths, mariachis and fountains enhance the festive atmosphere while you enjoy your favorites from an extensive menu. The enchiladas suizas are to die for.

I really like this place alot. The food is always good and they do have great margaritas. Sometimes the wait is a little long, but when you time it right you can walk in, get seated and in 5 minutes you will have fresh chips, salsa and a drink. What more can you ask for.

Me and my wife thought this might be a nice place to go from time to time, but I think one time will be enough. There were some things we liked about it. The atmosphere is lively and colorful, the waitresses all wear beautiful traditional Mexican dresses. The waitress we had was also very friendly and kept up well with our table. So the atmosphere is really nice, that's the strong point. The food, aside from chips and salsa, was some of the weirdest Mexican food we have eaten. I got a beef and bean tostada. It was a beyond huge portion, which isn't bad at all to me, but most of what made up the tostada was shredded lettuce on top. The beans and beef mixture was pretty strange tasting, and I would have to say not authentic Mexican at all. My wife got fish tacos. She has a gluten allergy and so the fish tacos were marked on the menu as gluten free. After she ate one, she felt and looked so out of it. Even the food I ate just didn't sit too well in my stomach. But I have never seen my wife feel that way after eating food. We have eaten lots of Mexican food in the area and never my wife has had a reaction like that. The tortilla around the taco was definitely corn, so I don't think it had any gluten in it, but I just don't know what it could have been, if they use MSG in their food or what, but something just didn't feel right about it and my wife is way more sensitive to bad things in food, so unfortunately we won't be back, and opting for something more authentic and fresh.

I will revise my review when I get to eat an actual meal there. I met friends for Happy Hour, my drink was great! Pina Colada. YUM! The Happy Hour snack buffet was meh. Not good. They had two trays of something that looked like enchiladas. Yuck. They were full of a bean like substance. The cheese was good :) The ambiance was nice, good for hanging out with friends, the bartender Juan Carlos was really nice, and the drinks we good... I will definitely try again

My absolutely most favorite Mexican restaurant on the planet. Unfortunately, I live in Tucson, but I make a point of timing my trips to California so I can be at Casa de Pico for either lunch or dinner. I've never found a Mexican restaurant with better food or better service. Hope they're around for a very long time.

Not the most authentic Mexican food, but still pretty good. Casa de Pico has a nice big outdoor patio so it's a good place to sit around and enjoy a couple of margaritas and tacos. Whenever I do go here, I always make it a point to go early in the day before their busy time. Once this place starts to get packed, their service seems to suffer a little bit.
