Recently, I was in the mood for an old-fashioned deli sandwich. I was looking for someplace I had not been before and found an ad for the Starving Artist Café.

Situated in a mini strip mall at 8034 New Lagrange Road in the Lyndon neighborhood, this is just the kind of hole-in-the-wall place where you often find good food. And it has a funky charm all its own.

The first thing you notice walking in is that it appears to be a throwback to a 1960s coffeehouse.

It's been a few weeks since I took a photo walk in downtown Louisville. Although we're deep into the fall season, today was an exceptionally warm day (62 degrees). So, it seemed like a good day to capture people out enjoying the moment. I was not disappointed.

I varied my route a bit, taking in the area around the Muhammad Ali Center and Waterfront Park, as well as the downtown core. People seemed to be is a great mood - maybe it's the holiday period or just the beautiful warm and clear day.

Today's walk around took me to downtown Louisville, one of my favorite spots for Street Photography.

I focused more east of the core downtown area, including the Second Street bridge and Slugger Field area. The area is a little more industrial, so I was able to capture some workers, including a man expertly backing a big rig into a narrow driveway.

Photos from this trip are at the first part of the Street Photography tab under the Photos Gallery.

My most recent photo shoot took me to an area of Cherokee Park. Cherokee is one of  Louisville's oldest parks, developed by Frederick Law Olmsted in 1891. My photo shoot concentrated on a small area in the eastern part of the 400 acre park called Big Rock. This location is marked by a large boulder in the middle of Bear grass Creek, which meanders throughout Cherokee Park.

Last Saturday, October 7, was the scheduled date for Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk. As stated on the website, "On the first Saturday of October each year, photographers and enthusiasts around the world get out their cameras and meet up at a designated location in their town to walk around and take photographs, socialize, make new friends, win prizes and be a part of a great cause during Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk®"

My photo group hosted two such walks, one on Bardstown Road in Louis

We've all been there. We take several photos of a memorable trip, a special event, or just photos of some interesting things that we see. But then, one or two years later, we look at  a photo and ask ourselves, "where was that photo taken?"

The answer to the question isn't difficult if the photo was taken with a smart phone. Modern smart phones use their internal GPS to automatically tag the location where a photo is taken. That is, unless the user has turned off location services.

Yes, it's that time of the year again - from five-year-olds to sixty-somethings and older, people are headed back to school.

Today, I went to the Belknap Campus of the University of Louisville (UofL) to document the flow of the school day, and to feature the architecture as well.

Belknap is one of three campuses of the University of Louisville and the principal location. The other sites are the Medical School in downtown Louisville and the Shelby Campus in the east end.
