Questions & Answers  -

Hey quick question, so I have finally had to fill up the volt (1 mth later and 3000km later) and I have a question about the gas cover door button. When I push the charging port button it springs open, but the gas cover doesn't. It'll just open if I push on the door when I'm pumping, but the button doesn't seem to do anything?

Is this normal or is this a defect requiring repair?

This is not a normal car! The tank is pressurized as well. Quote: "This all new tank, developed in conjunction with Spectra Premium Inc, uses a tin-zinc-coated steel tank that resists corrosion from both the inside and outside rather than the plastic fuel tanks found in other vehicles.  The Volt's new tank, which holds 9.3 gallons of gas, also contains a mechanical pressure-relief valve that can act as a fail-safe in the unlikely occasion it is needed.  Thus when you go to refuel the Volt's gas tank, you must press a fuel door release button located on the driver's door panel before unscrewing the gas cap.  This special button releases the pressure inside the fuel tank so you can open the cap.  If you are standing outside the Volt when this button is pressed, you will actually hear the pressure release."

hey canadian volt owners, did you get a 240v charging station and if so where did you get it from? how much did it cost, and does it really impact your life so much that the cost of the device plus install is warented?

I think these devices are still overpriced... that being said I bought one :) We also had to upgrade our electrical service, which is a common issue with older homes. There are a lot of public charging stations here in Northern California, but its nice to be able to get a fast charge at home, too.

I didn't get the navigation system as my phone takes care of it... But it has everything up to that. Leather, the wheels, parking sensors, mylink etc.

Signed the papers tonight on a cyber grey metallic 2012 volt. Most expensive car I have ever purchased but I'm certain it will be hands down the best. I take it home on Friday.

Hi guys, but Monday I make the decision at the dealership to either buy a 2013 at almost zero discount or a 2012 brand new btw, at a tremendous discount... Are thee differences between the two models significant enough to warrant the higher price? We are talking about almost 10k difference here...

Just to reaffirm. Improper grounding is not the only cause of the flashing red lights. I have experienced them for the reasons that I stated above. Outlets supplied with inadequate or inconsistent voltage will cause the same symptom. But I do agree that grounding is the first place to look. Like Jason said, buy one of those receptacle checkers

http://www.amazon.com/Electrical-Receptacle-Outlet-Ground-Tester/dp/B0012DHVQ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371561841&sr=8-1&keywords=grounding+checker

Most any hardware store will have one and you should have one anyway.

Has anyone tried this mounting system for their phone? It's a bit pricey but I'm using my Nexus 4 as my navigation for work and I need a solution.

proclipusa.com sells really nice phone mounts. I installed one in my Volt and have had them in many other cars. I bought the mount that goes on the right side (mounts just below parking brake switch).

The phone holders are great, too. I like the ones that come with power built-in (ex. http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-device-holder/google-nexus-4-(lg)/charging-holder-with-tilt-swivel-and-cigarette-lighter-adapter-512482-19161.aspx)
