Had the best time at Darryl's this weekend. We didn't hear anything about this place ahead of time, so we didn't know what to expect, but the crowd was pretty without being pretentious, the food and the drinks were banging, and the music was live...HOT jazz with a little smoky R&B. Be forewarned, though, it's a tiny place, and it gets very crowded, but between sets the crowd thins out and you might be able to get a seat. The waitress, Denise, was very personable, and made sure that we did not feel out of place even though we were still dressed for walking around downtown vs a night on the town. Everyone mingled nicely, and the crowd was very diverse. We will definitely be back.

My mom & I decided to try this place out a few days ago for her bday. Unfortunately it was a bad decision. None of the food had any seasoning/flavor. The drinks were just average and although our server was nice, he was never any where to be found when we needed him. He seemed to just disappear, even waited 15-20 mins just to get the check. The decor looks nice however small and congested. May be a nice place to have a beer and listen to the live music but I definitely do not recommend spending your money on the pricey food that, in my opinion, is very underwhelming. I've had much better food at chain restaurants like Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, and etc, for less money.

I don't know when this point in my life occurred but I started liking jazz. I also like food. Food, live jazz... Darryl's Jazz brunch - need I say more? I'd been to Darryl's only one time before for a friends event. The ambiance was nice, there was a DJ, it was cool. Then, I found out about their jazz brunch and made it a point to return for a bday brunch. Great choice. The brunch is $21 and some change but totally worth it if you have a big appetite. I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of how the food would be served, but it turns out they cook the food in the back and put the trays out buffet style in the back corner. It's a bit odd of a set-up but it works with the space. This was the first time I'd ever had chicken and waffles on my plate at the same time... and now I understand the hype haha. There was collard greens, mac and cheese .. and a bunch of other stuff that escapes me now. There was even fruit and dessert in the form of slices of cake and muffins. Being that it was my bday weekend I decided to continue the party with a margarita - tasty choice. It wasn't packed around 1:30pm but it had a good attendance. There was even a man celebrating his 101st bday with his family. Brunching in the presence of a century year old man is pretty damn cool. Plus, if he chose to eat there for his 101st you gotta believe it's a good spot. The singer on deck that day was melodically gentile and soothing. Perhaps I'll visit once more and find another reason to add a star to this review. It was a perfect combination of live music, and a good meal shared with friends. Schedule some time to visit, and treat yourself.

A sweet piece of southern heaven. The service is exceptional, the food is awesome, (had BBQ ribs that practically fell off the bone and still stayed quite succulent) and the drinks are on point. (I had Darryl's punch. Sweet and punchy (pun intended) ) The sides are sizable but i little extreme (the Mac and cheese was good but a little on the bland side. Wanted more of a southern "kick" . on the opposite end the yams were sweet enough to put you in a diabetic coma. ) so maybe they did that intentionally to off set each other. Their music selection is great and depending on the day, you can get a different genre. Funky. Never knew this place existed. But I'm glad I know now. Replay factor 4.5/5

Had a great dinner. The Haddock on Corn Chowder was delicious. Our waitress could not have been friendlier. Music was great - a bit loud but that's why we went. Glad we had a reservation!
