I can confirm that I will not be Periscope broadcasting from the ballot box.
It's getting a bit of a cliché to describe it as a 'social media election' but things have changed drastically since 2010. In 2010 adults spent 14.2 hours per month on the web, but, ...

I have room for 25, we had 23 at the Cardiff one and it was big enough for energy but small enough for debate and tackling specifics :-)

Some thoughts on getting more Facebook engagement for public sector people
People don’t share stories, they share emotions. Here’s how to use Facebook if you find yourself in control of your organisation’s official accountsSocial media and the public sector: who’s using it?

Thanks, good points! Some of this stuff makes more or less sense dependent on your culture or department or your aims. Hoped it would give people a few ideas and things to thinks about anyway :-)

Best trait in a social media communicator? Bravery.
And engagement starts with your boss.
Which qualities are most desirable in a social media manager or communications employee? I think the most valuable trait is bravery.

What do you think of this Google+ers? Apparently, of 2.2 billion G+ profiles, only 9% have any publicly-posted content http://t.co/N7Tgl9ndm1

I have to say, I like that it's not too busy in here (for me anyway) and Hangouts are so useful as well. I expect that it'll be tweaked until it appeals to a wider audience - I'm guessing new versions will bring me back more frequently.

Despite +1-ing that days ago, I've only just actually got the joke! I may have been too busy to actually see, recently!! Now that I'm enjoying a reasonably relaxing Sunday, this (and a few other things) is falling pleasantly into place in my head! Merry Christmas!

Spot on Helen. On first hearing about it I thought it was a smart idea. However as time has unfolded and articles like the ones you highlighted have been written, it's clear the right thing to do was for them to retreat and go back to the drawing board.

Was full of good intentions, but unfortunately the translation from theory to reality dive-bombed.

I agree with your comments re: the wording of the first Tweet - it's not the best because it doesn't show the human and apologetic side and agree it smacks of legal/bottom covering. I wonder how many revisions it went through to get to what was published.

I wonder if anyone else is working on something similar, and if so what will be learnt from this situation or if it has scared them off.

Fab article as ever :)
