The Bank of England made a new bid to address “relatively tight” credit conditions for small and medium-sized firms yesterday, as it extended its Funding for Lending (FLS) credit scheme for another two years.

The FLS – introduced to counteract a sharp rise in bank funding costs in 2012, during the worst stage of the eurozone crisis – has been focussed on business lending since November 2013. Under the scheme, banks gain access to £5 of cheap funding from Threadneedle Street for every £1 they lend to SMEs.

The FLS was due to be wound down early next year. But Bank Governor Mark Carney and Chancellor George Osborne have agreed to prolong it until early 2018, gradually tapering down the allowances available.

While credit conditions for small businesses have been improving, Mr Carney wrote to the Chancellor that they remained “relatively tight” compared to larger companies. According to the Bank’s latest figures, outstanding loans to SMEs stood at £164.2bn in October, against £169.4bn a year earlier. Net lending – gross lending less repayments – to large businesses was £1.9bn over the month, compared to £0.5bn loaned to SMEs.

"Cards Against Humanity" trolls the world making $71,000 after charging $5 for absolutely nothing on Black Friday.

The popular game Cards Against Humanity (CAH) collected $71,000 (£42,2000) after asking people to pay them $5 on Black Friday, for nothing in return.

CAH, which calls itself "a party game for horrible people" had a message on its website stating: "This Black Friday Only! Give Cards Against humanity $5."

Below, was a box to tick stating: "I understand I am paying Cards Against Humanity $5 and receiving nothing in return."

The company tweeted: “On Black Friday, everybody is selling something. We’re the only company to offer the superior Black Friday experience of buying nothing.

"The greatest Black Friday gift of all is buying nothing. We’re offering that for the rock-bottom price of $5. How can you afford NOT to seize this incredible opportunity?"

Housing crisis UK: Osborne’s 3% stamp duty on buy-to-let properties could raise rents by £55 a month

George Osborne’s decision to raise stamp duty for buy-to-let landlords will cost tenants an extra £55 a month in rent, according to Kent Reliance.

Osborne announced an additional 3 per cent stamp duty on second homes and buy to let properties in his Autumn Statement, adding thousands in tax. A property worth £175,000 would have cost £1,000 in stamp duty this year but will cost £6,250 from next April.

Buy-to-let is on the rise. Lending to landlords was higher in the first nine months of 2015 than in any of the last six years.

Rather than dampening the buy-to-let market and free up housing for first time buyers, the increased rent will make it harder to save for a deposit as tenants face higher monthly rent, mortgage lenders have warned.

Can a small business manage trade credit?

Small and medium-sized businesses can benefit from trade credit, the process many large companies use to build up customer goodwill.

Question: How do I manage and maximise trade credit from big customers?

Jon Keating, European managing director at Taulia, an online trade finance marketplace, says:

At about £327bn, trade credit – the granting of credit by non-financial firms to their customers – is now 20 per cent larger than the size of bank credit and the biggest single source of finance to UK business.

Large companies are doing this and small and medium-sized businesses shouldn’t feel they can’t benefit, too. It’s all about building up goodwill and maybe starting with less favourable, later payment terms. After sticking to the terms, bring the payment terms forward to 30 days to help cashflow.

But overuse is an indicator that something is wrong. Immediately prior to insolvency, trade creditors increase as businesses try to fund their working capital by paying suppliers more slowly.

If a lender gets nervous about how many others are owed, they can pull the credit terms, stop cashflow and cause a domino effect. Don’t take on too many creditors.

George Osborne has bowed to intense public pressure and scrapped his proposed cuts to tax credits.

Plans that would have seen up to three million families £1,300-a-year worse off from next April have been abandoned:

"I've listened to the concerns, I hear and understand them and because I've been able to announce today an improvement in the public finances the simplest thing to do is not phase these changes in but avoid them altogether."

We subscribed to their registered address and forwarding service. They forwarded to the incorrect address and when complained to find the reasons, got charged for virtual address and no answer to the complaint till date. Forcefully, charged us for 1 year registration service when there was no response to complaint in December (chased in January for response) and then threatened us for late payments and referral to company directors credit reports. After paying when queried that their terms and conditions mentions that "11.5 The company warrants and guarantee’s that if a customer is not happy with their service within the probationary 3 month period they will be entitled to a full refund. Proof of purchase will need to be provided (sales receipt or bank statement).", we were told that the Director will respond now! As usual, no response till date, out of pocket, poor customer service and not recommended at all where there are many others in the same field who offer better service.

I've found their mail forwarding service very professional so far.
