Ok, so how do I disable the stupid event invites from showing up on my home screen?
Solution right now: stop using G+. I'm seeing zero actual posts, everything is just event invites from people I don't know.
Bye bye.

Yea +Linus Torvalds this is truly the spammiest anti-social feature of all major social networks. Tired of uncircling spammers every day.Aug 15, 2013
Agreed. The UI for G+ trumps FB's, but both suffer from spammy aspects.Oct 27, 2013

pds tech+4click the bell icon, then click the gear icon for Google+. Under "General", there is "Who can send you notifications". On the right, there is a drop down arrow with choices. Select Only You or Custom, which will allow only you or those you select from a circle to be able to send invites.
This should eliminate and spammers from sending invites on your notifications12w
