I saw this posted on a neighborhood page and I thought I would share this so more of our younger generation won't be confused. Hope you all enjoy.

So, a friend of mine who works at a dealership had a younger customer come in with an older car and was asking why his iPhone port was scratching his screen and not charging his phone.

What is something worth to you? In our economy today I understand price is always a factor as it should be in any economy. The question I am asking I guess is why we pay what we pay for any given product or service. I have always believed in you get what you pay for and the lowest price is not always the best price. With everything just a click away it is easy to compare the price of anything in just a few minuets. This comes up more than one might think in my industry so I would like to take a moment to educate people on the difference of the parts house verses the service shop. The parts you can find on the internet or at your local parts house are at a discounted price based on the quantity and quality of the parts they purchase. These parts are a do it yourself part price. The parts Installed at here at Autovaun are a high quality part that will last and not have to be changed out again and again. This part will come at a higher initial cost as it has a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty for parts and labor as well as roadside assistance. How much will it cost you to have your vehicle towed if the part fails not to mention the time to replace it again. When you add in all of this the higher initial cost is a better value in the long run. This is the service end of it we don't just sell you a part and say goodbye. I care about our community and everyone in it so I will not put my name or my shop name on a inferior product. You can buy a steak at the super market for less than the steak house but try asking them to cook it for you. I just wanted to thank all of you who understand that there is value in service.

If you have off road toys you know they tend to break more often than cars do because of the nature of how and where we operate them. Off road toys can teach us valuable driving lessons that can be applied even on the road. A couple of weekends ago I broke my kid's Rhino. I drove over a hard drop off (maybe 85 degrees but definitely not 90) and stuck the front end in the dirt while the rear wheels came off the ground. Apparently I didn't let off the gas quick enough and when the tires hit the ground it broke the middle drive shaft causing the rear axle to no longer work. Luckily the vehicle had four wheel drive so I was able to drive with the front axle only. This got me thinking about all the times I see people turn too sharp to leave a parking lot and drop the inside tire off the curb while accelerating to get in front of oncoming traffic. Any time your tire loses contact with the ground and regains contact while under power you are causing more stress to your entire drivetrain. So learn a lesson from one of my many off road "mistakes" (as my wife calls them. - I like to call them finding my limits.) and make sure you are aware of the road in front of you. Your vehicle may not be four wheel drive and if your axle breaks you will be stranded. While many people do it, walking in Arizona in the summer is not fun.

It's almost time for school to start again! That means for some of us the kids will be going out of town or state for college. If you are sending them with a car make time to get it in and have a check over done before they go. After all if your daughter has car trouble you don't want them to have some boy look at it as a excuse to hang around them do you? If your son has car problems there is a good chance he will try to fix it himself and best case fix it but at the sacrifice of school work. As you can see it would just be less of a headache to go ahead and have it checked first so school will be their only worry. Call us today to schedule a time who knows your child's education could be on the line!

I can get that cheaper at on the internet. Yes it is true that parts are cheaper online. The question is what is the quality of that part. The other day a customer brought in their vehicle with a drive-ability concern. After testing the vehicle and duplicating the concern I found the problem. The Air Filter installed in the vehicle was the correct one by application for the vehicle but was a cheaper line of filter and had been sucked into the air intake hose causing a lack of power. The filter had a wire mesh on the top like normal but the mesh was half the thickness of the higher quality filter. So remember buying by price alone is not always a good idea. Sometimes it pays to look at the quality of what you are spending your money on. For a quality repair at a fair price with a warranty give us a call at 480-807-6555 or go to Autovaun.com

This Monday is Memorial Day. Take some time to remember those that lost their life while serving our country. It takes a special person to put themselves in harms way so that the rest of us can live in a free country that allows us to do whatever we want. Memorial day is a day to remember them not just another three day weekend. Here at Autovaun we know this and appreciate them and their families for their sacrifice. We will be closed on Monday to spend time with our families and hope you all do the same. Have a fun and safe weekend. We will be back on Tuesday to take care of your automotive needs.

Last week we found out some sad news about a friend and business acquaintance that we have worked with for some time. Stephanie was a estimator at Gerber Collision she left a few years back and I haven't kept in touch with her. Last week I got a call from the Monica with the unfortunate news that she is fighting cancer. Having gone through this in my family I am very sympathetic. If you feel inclined I encourage you to look at this link and her story. I am not trying to make anyone donate that does not want to I am just trying to get her story out before its too late. Feel free to share this and thanks for reading.

Why does my vehicle smell like gas?
If you are noticing a gas smell from you vehicle you are most likely leaking fuel. Most of the manufactures out there today use plastic fuel lines and fuel pump housings. As you can suspect with age and the hot temperatures on the roads (especially here in Mesa AZ.) plastic parts will not last forever. Many times the supply line will crack at some point and leak fuel causing the smell. There are other possibilities like Fuel Injectors and Emission components. Whatever the cause this is nothing to just let go it is a very big safety issue and should be checked out by a qualified technician. If you need your vehicle checked or just have more Questions give us a call and we will help you out.

Spending time with family is important to me and I encourage others to do so as well. I am fortunate to have great employees which allows me to spend time with mine. Those of us that have kids know all to well how fast they grow up. It is all to easy to let the day to day grind of life get in the way and we end up missing out on the things that make life long memories. It doesn't have to be a expensive trip to the beach or resort it can be a simple trip to the park to play on the swings or fish in the pond. Summer break is almost here and the kids will be out of school. Take time to be with your family's. If you do have a road trip coming up give us a call and we will make sure you are good to go 480-807-6555.

I am looking to complete my brothers Licence Plate collection. I have been thinking about Vaun a lot lately and thought it would be nice to finish his collection. For those of you who have been here you have no doubt-ably seen the plates on the wall. Today I looked and found out that we are missing 17 to complete the collection. I am looking for Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and West Virginia. I am sending out a request to all of you and if you know someone from one of those states please share this with them. I will give one free oil change to the first person to bring in any one of each states Official Licence Plates. I am NOT looking for stolen plates I will not accept ones with current registration without proof it was not stolen. I would like to complete this by August. If you or anyone you know has one of these laying around please bring it by 5015 E Mckellips Rd. Mesa AZ. 85215.
Diesel Oil change will receive a $40.00 discount.
Thank you for helping me do this. Spread the word.
