Background
Accent’s brief was to fit out a brand new, fully functional, state-of-the art dental surgery in a new building of prestige healthcare providers. The project included making sure the two operating theatres complied with council codes as well as Health Department requirements.

Special features and challenges
We worked closely with Codri Luyk of Hauraki Design for an overall look that reflected the surgery’s prestige location.

The surgery was fitted out on an unoccupied floor of the already completed building. We installed two heavy dentist chairs, a heavy duty steriliser, X-ray machine with operator’s viewing area and televisions for close-up work. The dentist chairs, each weighing xxxkg, had to be lifted into place by crane (no mean feat when the building was already enclosed). And the cutting-edge X-ray machine, imported from Australia, was one of the first of its kind installed in New Zealand.

The job also involved specialised plumbing; for the mouth rinse bowls, healthcare standard hand washing facilities and the heavy duty steriliser which required boiling water to be reliably delivered every time.

The job was completed on time, to council and Department of Health standards and within budget – and the Luyks were thrilled with how Accent Commercial Interiors brought their ideas to life.
