I had a great experience!! It is a really clean and professional space. All of my questions were answered and everyone was really nice.. but not in an annoying bubbly type way. Thing to know: When you are having a cleaning, if they forget to ask, ask them about their extra treatments, such as a paraffin hand wax!!! I will definitely be going back!

I've been lucky enough to be a patient of Dr. Mark Sivers for 17 years now. I can honestly say that in all that time I have never received anything but impeccable and thorough dental care, the operative word being care. Over the past 17 years I have received not only routine dental cleanings and exams but I've undergone several complicated root canals, and numerous restorative procedures. It is worth noting that I am an extremely anxious patient when it comes to sitting in the dentists chair and I also have significantly sensitive teeth. Despite those limitations, Dr. Sivers has always been able to allay my fears through his calm, genuinely caring, unhurried nature, his incredible patience, kindness and willingness to thoroughly educate his patients about their dental health. If you are looking for not only superior dental care, but prefer a dentist who truly cares about you as a person, look no further. In keeping with Dr. Sivers quality of patient care standards, I can also highly recommend Lauren Carlsen, dental hygienist @ Charles River Dental. They don't come any sweeter or any gentler.

Thank you for the amazing review, Sheri! It has truly been an honor to serve you and to get to know you over the years. We recognize that many people are extremely nervous about going to the dentist and we want to not only treat those people's dental needs, but alleviate their fears as well. Thank you for sharing your story, as we hope it will help more people realize the dentist CAN be a positive experience!

So bad experience with them, the price is ridiculously high, and they do not care and ask you whether your insurance can have enough balance on it. They only do the service and charge you the expensive service fee compared to other facilities. Will never go there again and not recommend anyone. They are careless of the patients financially.

We appreciate your feedback and would love to provide you with more information about Charles River Dental. We do provide the absolute highest quality of care, and are aware that some patients may need help financing their care. If you have the benefit of dental insurance, we will happily submit all claims and you will get reimbursed directly for any portion they may cover. Also, as courtesy to our patients we offer extended financing with CareCredit and SpringStone. We are happy to see you for a no fee consult to further discuss any financing questions you may have.

I loved my experience at Charles River Dental. They made me realize that dental/medical visits can be actually be enjoyable! The staff is incredibly friendly, they always see me on time and they've taken incredible care of my teeth. Since visiting CRD, I've learned more about what goes on in my mouth than I've known my entire life. The hygiene team and doctors not only treat your problems - but educate you how to prevent future problems on a level that's incomparable. I enjoy the little luxuries CRD offers, from the hand treatments to the headphones. I even had a root canal procedure that was so easy and strangely, relaxing, that I was shocked - I thought that it was going to be extremely painful...I didn't notice a thing. If you are looking for a dentist in Boston - they are simply the best. After experiencing how CRD does it, I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else. Thank you for everything!!

After moving into the city back in 2002, I needed to find a new dentist. I knew I needed a few things done, but like most people I put it off... I mean who wants to go to the dentist? I was referred to Dr. Sivers by a good friend of mine. Her quote... "I love my dentist". So I made an appointment. I was surprised to discover that going to the dentist could be such a pleasant experience. During my initial examination, Dr. Sivers graciously answered all my questions and came up with a plan to get me back on track. During subsequent visits Dr. Sivers, Dr. Melcer and the rest of the staff took great care of me. Even now, I look forward to my 6 month checkups where I’m sure to interact with the friendly staff. If you are one who only looks for the lowest price, CRD is not the place for you. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. As someone who has run their own business, I have an appreciation for attention to detail and Charles River Dental’s is second to none. I’m thankful to have found them, not to mention all the compliments I’ve gotten on my smile

My experience with Charles River Dental was life changing. I've decided to share my TN (trigeminal neuralgia) story, not because I believe it will be well received, but because I truly have a desire to help as many people as possible. I found permanent relief (without meds) from this illness 8 years ago, and while the procedure that "saved" my life likely can't help everyone, I'm certain it can help some. After my healing (technically in remission), I didn't want anything more to do with TN! That monster had already stolen too many years of my life. But after my sister recently attempted suicide (diagnosed with occipital neuralgia), I felt compelled to reach out to others. My pain appeared out of the blue at age 30... sudden, severe and chronic. My GP immediately ordered an MRI = nothing. Then a neurologist diagnosed "cluster headaches" and prescribed pain meds. This only masked a problem I was certain could be fixed, so I kept searching. Then an ENT specialist, dentist and endodontist = nothing. Then a naturalist and a chiropractor = nothing. My chiropractor suggested a TMJ specialist. I felt good about that and made an appointment with the "best of the best" in Boston. After one year, several TMJ appliances and $10K = nothing. Then a maxilla facial surgeon = nothing. I resorted to pain management by way of occupational/ultrasound therapy. Ultrasound therapy brought more relief than anything I had tried before, giving me a whopping 2 days of relief! However, even then I wasn't totally pain free. I began to hit the point where I wanted to give up on life; I'd been in severe pain for 4 years! Then a close friend of mine, a dentist, offered to work with me. I only agreed because I felt obligated. My teeth were fine... and what could a dentist do that a neurologist couldn't?? Because of his concern and compassion toward me as a friend, this dentist spent time with me every week, researching everything he could about my symptoms. After 8 months, he knew it was TN. After 11 months, he performed a 2-hour procedure and afterwards put me in a "bite brace" (similar to a TMJ appliance) just long enough for the nerves to recover. It was at the 2 week mark that I noticed the pain was beginning to ease. By week 4, it was completely gone. After 5 years of chronic, debilitating pain... I'm crying my eyes out just trying to explain this... I was literally given a second chance in life. I was able to have a fourth daughter, adopt 3 sons (in progress) and enjoy a busy, fulfilling life again. After my sister's suicide attempt, I asked my friend if he had written about his experience in medical journals. He explained that the medical community wouldn't take his findings seriously. He is successfully treating other TN patients, and hopes that with enough evidence, the medical community will take a closer look. Many TN sufferers would rather suffer than stoop to the level of "dental work" or "experimentation." I've been there too. But thanks to a brilliant friend, who I trusted completely, who was willing to spend almost a year of his life researching and figuring this out, I literally have my life back. Pain free, med free and full of gratitude. Thank you Dr. Sivers!

What I've seen at Charles River Dental (CRD) is amazing. The staff greets you with a warm smile each and every time you come in for an appointment. The extras are varied and delightful. There are always fresh imaginative flower arrangements for you to enjoy while you wait. Although the wait is always very short, they have fresh clean water with refreshing fruit floating in it. Not sweet but just enough to make it refreshing. I could go on and on but let’s talk about the dental care... One gets the feeling of a team approach. Even if you are not seeing a dentist you might pass in the hall someone is there to introduce you. For my part I was there for a complete set of new dentures. Dr. Pamela Muniz is the prosthodontist with CRD. She is not only lovely to look at but a wonderful person to deal with. She is kind, gentle and very caring. Kissy , her assistant for my care, was just a kind and caring. Offering to turn the air up or down the minute she thinks you might want it. Not only that but if you're cold she will suggest a heated blanket. I was given a tube of beeswax chap stick to help for my process. You get the feeling you're part of the family and your comfort is very important to them. I love “CRD” and recommend it most highly.

General Dentistry Keeps Your Mouth Healthy

As the old saying goes, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," and that definitely applies to dentistry. At Charles River Dental, we employ exemplary dental professionals who can restore your dental health and transform the appearance of your smile, but you may never need these services if your teeth stay healthy.

How can you keep your teeth healthy? Besides brushing and flossing every day, the best thing you can do for your teeth is to visit your dentist for a check-up and cleaning twice a year. This will allow your dentist to spot any major problems before they appear, and scrape cavity-causing tartar off the surface of your teeth. Regular general dentistry visits prevent the sort of complications that can lead to expensive procedures later.

Dentistry from the Heart Recap

Want to learn more about our Dentistry from the Heart event? We have all the details on our new blog post. Over the past two years, we've raised more than $100,000 while providing 357 free procedures to 176 people who can't pay for the dental care they need. And over the next few years, we're going to make sure those numbers go up!

With an official Governor's Citation from Charlie Baker and over 100 patients served at our most recent event, we couldn't be happier about the outcome of this year's Dentistry from the Heart. But we're betting that we can make next year even better, and we want to thank everyone in the community who made this incredible day possible!

UK Rescue Dog Gets Braces

A dog in the United Kingdom was recently given braces after veterinarians found a tooth growing into his mouth. If our experience with our human patients is any indication, we're guessing the dog was initially afraid other dogs were going to make fun of him, but then he realized that they didn't seem to notice much, and he ended up being very happy with his new straight teeth!

If you have issues with crooked or improperly-spaced teeth, we hope this convinces you to fix the issue with orthodontic solutions. Charles River Dental offers braces along with several less visible but equally effective orthodontic solutions.

How Often Do You Brush Your Teeth?

Everyone (hopefully) knows that you should brush your teeth twice a day, in addition to flossing daily and eating a balanced diet. But how often do most Americans actually floss? According to this article, not nearly enough- less than half of all Americans brushed their teeth at least two times a day!

At Charles River Dental, we encourage all our patients to stick to a dental hygiene regimen for optimal long-term oral health. We can treat infected teeth and gums, but the treatments often require more daily maintenance on your part. So remember, if you don't like the hassle of regular dental hygiene, the advanced-care dental hygiene takes up even more of your time and money. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

Dentists say we should brush our teeth twice a day, but a new survey reveals how many of us actually follow their advice.

June is Migraine Awareness Month
More than 37 million people in the United States have migraines headaches, a chronic condition that affects your mental health and physical well-being. This year's theme for Migraine Awareness Month is "Make Migraines Visible," and at Charles River Dental, we want to do our part to spread awareness of migraines and their symptoms.

Many people who are experiencing migraine-like symptoms and constant headaches may actually have TMJ, a disorder that arises from a misalignment in your facial muscles. The neuromuscular dentists at Charles River Dental can treat TMJ and provide long-term relief to people suffering from the disorder. Check out our page on the subject to learn more.

Woman Superglued Teeth in to Avoid Dentist

Dental Anxiety is a very real and crippling condition that can have adverse effects on your appearance and lifestyle. This UK woman had such a heightened fear of the dentist that she kept her rotting teeth in with superglue rather than see a dental professional.

As a result, she experienced crippling social anxiety over her teeth, unwilling to smile or show her teeth in public, and made a habit of covering her mouth every time she talked. Her social life and family relationships were strained by these issues, and she finally underwent several operations to fix the issues.

Remember, if you have dental anxiety, your dentist has options to help you. Charles River Dental has Oral Sedation Dentistry that can get you through an appointment without having to be afraid.

Improve Your Oral Health With Dental Implants

If you are missing permanent teeth, it's normal for the jawbone under the teeth to degrade and weaken over time. This can gradually loosen nearby teeth, and lead to further deterioration in the jawbone. One way to prevent this chain reaction is with dental implants.

Dental implants are inserted into your jawbone, and can stop or even reverse the deterioration that occurs after losing a tooth. At the Boston offices of Charles River Dental, we believe dental implants are the best tooth replacement option available for most patients. Contact us to find out if dental implants are right for you.
