This is a fantastic place for those who like books, art, architecture, history ... a living place that must be visited again and again ... Its a pleasure to go there, select a few books to study before buying climb the magnificent staircase, sit on the blue arm chairs, ask for a Port Wine, and calmly browse the books, select the ones we want to buy, enjoy a special moment! Photograph the place in all its details, feel the history, the culture.

The most beautiful book store I've ever visited. Apparently J. K. Rowling was inspired for her Harry Potter series by this book store when she was a language instructor in Porto.

Smaller than expected. Extremely crowded. No photos (which is the main reason to go there). Impressive wood carvings though.

What an amazing bookstore I wished all other stores could be this magical. It's rated as one of the most magnificent stores in the world and inspired JR Rowling's Hogwarts school of magic

If you are visiting Oporto make sure you pay a short visit to this nice book store. The best time to go is quite early in the morning, 9-10am. During the rest of the day it is pretty crowded and you are not allowed to take any pics.
