Semper Ad Lucem!
The Semper Ad Lucem Presentation Ceremony was held on Friday, May 19, 2017 in Bancroft-Phinney Hall on the campus of The Knox School. This tradition highlights the junior class, and the beginning of their journey as Knox seniors with the presentation of class rings and the transition to Senior Blazers. National Honor Society Officers for the upcoming year are also announced, in addition to the installation of Student Council Officers for the 2017-2018 school year.

Crew Team Qualifies for Nationals!

Please join us in congratulating Mateja Markovic and Hieu Biu on being invited to represent The Knox School at the Scholastic Nationals Championships within the boys’ junior doubles category. Nationals will be held on Memorial Day weekend in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. We wish our boys the very best of luck. Go Falcons!

Knox student participates in National Art Competition!

Congratulations to Christine Marsell-Pino for being selected to participate in the Artistic Discovery competition, sponsored by the United States Congressional Institute. Each spring, students from around the nation submit artwork to local competitions, in which winners are recognized both in their districts and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC.

Christine’s artwork is currently on display at the Patchogue Artspace Gallery, located at 20 Terry Street, in Patchogue, New York.

Varsity Girls Softball Makes the Playoffs!
Congratulations to The Knox School's Varsity Girls Softball Team on making the playoffs! The first round against Staten Island Academy will be held at The Knox School's home field on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, with the opening pitch being thrown at 4:00 p.m. Please come down to campus to show your support for our Lady Falcons. We will be hosting a Blood Drive on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. in the Bancroft-Phinney Gymnasium on the campus of The Knox School.

Eligible Criteria:

Bring your NYBC Donor Card or ID with signature and photo.
Minimum weight - 110 lbs.
Ages 16-75 (16 year olds must have parental permission. Age 76 and over requires a doctor's note).
Eat well (low fat foods) and drink plenty of fluids.
No tattoos for the past 12 months.
Your donation will help to save THREE lives. Our community hospitals need your help.

Spring Invitational Regatta
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, The Knox School community came together in support of the Falcon's Crew Team at the Suffolk County Invitational Regatta hosted at our beloved Home Beside the Shore. Friends and family enjoyed Knox's sprawling waterfront campus while cheering six local rowing clubs, which included: The Knox Falcons, St. Anthony's High School, St. John the Baptist, McGann Mercy High School, Huntington High School and the Long Island Rowing Club.

We are happy to celebrate three Knox Crew members who were awarded medals in two categories:

Mateja Markovic and Daniel Leach winning 1st place in Boys Junior Varsity Doubles
Mateja Markovic and Hieu Bui winning 1st place in Boys Novice Doubles
"As coaches, we are happy with the way our team performed this past weekend. It sets the standard for the rest of the Spring season. We look forward to showing our strength and speed in the upcoming Cooper Cup this weekend in Cherry Hill, New Jersey." - Monika Zdrojewska, Head Coach of The Knox Crew Team.

Long Island High School All-Stars!
Congratulations to Seniors Mohamed Jannedi and Alejandro Minota for being selected to play on the Long Island High School All-Star Team at the 43rd Annual Wheelchair Classics All-Star Tournament on May 3 and 4, 2017 at Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens, New York. The Long Island All-Star Team will compete against other All-Star teams from the 5 Boroughs in an important charity event to raise money to buy wheelchairs for the disabled.

The Long Island All-Star Team includes players from Uniondale, Baldwin, Wyandanch, Deer Park, LuHi, Hills East, Elmont, Upper Room, Amityville, and Westbury High Schools.

Knox Equestrian Places at Nationals!

The Knox School is pleased to celebrate the accomplishments of our Middle School Equestrian Team who ranked in the top 22 out of 657 national teams and competed for the first time as a team at Nationals in Lexington, Virginia, April 21-23, 2017. Middle School rider, Jessica Guginsky competed as an Individual Rider, placing fourth overall. She was joined by Middle School teammates Emily Lonegro and Grace Hayden for the Team competitions, where Emily received an eighth place in her Team Class. On our way to qualifying for Nationals our Middle School team also placed second out of 13 teams at Regionals on March 5-6, 2017 and third place out of 17 teams at Zones in Buffalo, New York on March 24-26 2017.Upper school riders Nicole Cahill, Mackenzie Jorgensen, Annabel Shewan, Victoria Voelker, Julia Russo and Riley Hovsepian placed in their classes at Regionals as well.

In addition, two Knox School Teams were sent to the Junior Olympics in Melville, New York on April 14, 2017, winning seven first-place awards, several second-place awards, several fourth place awards and a sixth place award and five perpetual trophies. The first team was comprised of students Maya Tintweiss, Isabella Benrubi and Elizaveta Vostokova, riding under the team name Hogwarts, and the second team was comprised of students Victoria Voelker, Mackenzie Jorgensen and Julia Russo., riding under the team name Hundred Acre Wood. The "Hundred Acre Wood" team was the top team in their division. Way to go, Knox!

The complete Knox IEA Equestrian Team consists of the following students: Upper School- Nicole Cahill, Annabel Shewan, Mackenzie Jorgensen, Hannah Egitto, Jaime Rishi, Julia Russo, Riley Hovsepian, Charlese Profeta, Nicolette Lombardi, Victoria Voelker, Heather Feigenbaum, Frances Clever and Elizaveta Vostokova, and Middle School- Jessica Guginsky, Abigail Reavis, Grace Hayden, Andrea Infranco, Meg Major, Rachel Ricci, Sofia Deleon and Emily Lonegro. Additional Knox riders include: Kariana Schman, Morgan DeBono, Hannah Bogart, Sydney Maslin, Kyle Persaud, Caroline Rothemich and Christina Ziccard.

Laurynas Stonkus Signs NLI to NYIT

The Knox School is pleased to announce that Senior Laurynas Stonkus has signed a National Letter of Intent accepting a full athletic scholarship to play basketball for New York Institute of Technology (NYIT), Old Westbury, in the Fall of 2017. A Shooting Guard on The Knox School's National Preparatory Basketball Team, Laurynas is excited to study Architectural Engineering at NYIT, which is a major that can utilize his academic strengths in mathematics and creative skills in design and building construction.

The Knox School is proud to have been a part of Laurynas's journey to success. In his year-and-a-half career at Knox, Laurynas has been an accomplished student, a productive member of the Knox School community and a consistent, positive personality on campus. We wish him the best of luck as he moves forward in his academic and basketball career.
