You will find a once-prosperous and advanced nation left utterly devastated by the murderous, corrupt Castro oligarchy. Away from the Potemkin village that the Castro regime has set up to fool gullible tourists, you will find crumbling buildings and infrastructure. You will find Cubans still living on $20.00 per month and subsisting on inadequate rations of food. The educational and healthcare systems have exponentially deteriorated. The regime's agents will show you what they want you to see. Certainly, the hospitals and schools they will show you are reserved for the Castro elites and tourists; not the average Cuban. No civil liberties, no free markets, no bona fide judicial system and no respect for human rights. For a real lesson, take your students to the Santa Rita church in Havana on Sunday around 12 p.m. where you will see Cuba's pro-democracy activists and Ladies in White attacked, beaten and incarcerated for simply marching peaceably. The repression is ongoing and perpetrated weekly. Take lots of pictures, and bring back to the United States the truth of your experiences; not the mendacious, leftist propaganda that much of the U.S. media disseminates. The big prison-island of Cuba awaits you.
P.S. Obama's bad Cuba policy violates the 1996 Helms-Burton Act. Despite his unlawful executive orders, anyone who vacations or does business in Cuba is violating U.S. laws. Such action is both illegal and immoral.
